As we've shared, our founder and chair, Dr. Nora Bennani, is attending the Best Friends National Conference this week. She is already inspired by conversations centered on innovation, collaboration, and the future of animal welfare.

A major theme throughout the conference has been the importance of community, transparency, and working together to create better outcomes for animals and the people who care for them.

From emerging technologies and data-driven approaches to grassroots leadership and local partnerships, one message is clear: meaningful change happens when people are willing to learn, adapt, and show up for one another.

As a growing organization, we’re grateful for opportunities to continue learning and bringing new ideas back to our work here in SE Minnesota.

The future of animal welfare depends on compassion, collaboration, and communities that care deeply, and we’re excited to keep growing alongside all of you.

Did you know that May is National Pet Month?

Pets bring so much into our lives, from routine and comfort to joy and connection.

When someone is facing medical treatment, that bond doesn’t become any less important, but caring for them can become harder. That’s where we step in.

We also have an exciting month ahead, with upcoming events and opportunities to connect with our community in person, and we’re looking forward to sharing more along the way.

Sunny’s Helping Paws is excited to share that our founder and chair, Dr. Nora Bennani, will be attending in Salt Lake City next week.

She’ll be joining animal welfare leaders from across the country to learn, connect, and gather new ideas that can help strengthen the work we’re building here in Southeast Minnesota.

We’re looking forward to sharing what she brings back with our community and grateful to have you alongside us as we continue to grow.

Our first in-person event of 2026 is just three weeks away!

On Monday, May 18, we invite you to meet us at at TerraLoco (1190 16th St SW, Ste 150, Rochester, MN, United States, Minnesota 55902) for a marked course 5k at 5:30pm.

More info:
• $5 per person (cash or check only)
• Finish by 6:45 PM
• Snacks provided (bring a refillable water bottle)
• Prize drawings after the run
• All paces and ages welcome (strollers, rollerblades, bicycles, and more)
• Leashed, vaccinated & well-behaved pets welcome

The Lymphoma Research Foundation Walk is less than two months away!

We’re honored that Sunny will be there with our team as a Comfort and Healing Ambassador, representing the important role pets play in supporting people through treatment and recovery.

This cause is especially close to our hearts through Nora, our founder, and the work that led to the creation of Sunny’s Helping Paws.

We’d love for you to join us on June 6th at Lake Nokomis Beach for the Lymphoma Research Foundation's 2026 Minnesota Lymphoma Walk, as we walk toward fulfilling their mission to realize the promise of science to eradicate lymphoma.
