For many pet owners, not knowing who will care for their pet can add another layer of stress when they’re already facing a medical emergency. And the research backs up what we know from experience: just how much that worry can affect decisions about getting the care they need.

We want to make this issue more visible because we believe there’s a better way.

Sunny’s Helping Paws connects people with compassionate temporary pet care when they need it most. It’s one way our community can come together to make sure a pet’s wellbeing doesn’t have to compete with their person’s health.

Back-to-school season means new routines for the whole family, including our pets.

Some changes are easy to see coming: earlier mornings, different schedules, and a little less time at home can all take some getting used to.

Other changes? You can’t always plan for them.

That’s part of why Sunny’s Helping Paws exists. When life takes an unexpected turn and a pet owner needs to focus on their health, we’re here to help keep their pets safe, loved, and cared for.

Happy International Dog Day!

In the U.S., 65.1 million households have at least one dog, and 67% of dog owners consider their dog a family member. With nearly half of American households sharing their homes with a dog, that bond is a big part of everyday life for millions of people.

That’s why the Sunny's Helping Paws team is so passionate about making sure pets are part of the conversation when someone is facing medical treatment, because we know that loving and caring for a dog can become a barrier to pursuing care when there’s no safe, trusted option for them.

We exist to help change that. We provide compassionate temporary care for these beloved family members when their people need it most, giving pet owners one less thing to worry about while they focus on getting better.

As Sunny’s Helping Paws grows and more people hear about what we do, we’re seeing more and more of this: people talking about the difference this kind of support can make and recognizing what’s possible when a community comes together.

We love helping pets and their people through challenging times, but we are also honored to bring a little more hope, joy, and connection to our community along the way.

Our founder, Dr. Nora Bennani, is enjoying a much deserved break and sharing a few photos from the road. Of course, pets are never far from mind.

Nora explored Anchorage’s mushing district, visited Balto’s statue, and spotted paw prints and dedications throughout the city honoring the dogs who have helped shape Alaska’s history. She was also lucky enough to meet plenty of four-legged locals along the way!

Meanwhile, there’s plenty ahead as Sunny’s Helping Paws heads into year two, and we’re excited see where the road takes us next.
