⛳️ COULD YOU BE GOLF READY IN 6 MONTHS?

YES!

You don’t need years of experience to feel comfortable on a golf course. With the right introduction, instruction and opportunities to play, six months can make a big difference.

🏌️‍♀️ Take lessons — Build good fundamentals from the beginning.

⛳ Practice between lessons — Even once a week can help build consistency and confidence.

👟 Get on the course early — Don’t wait until you think you’re “ready.” Start with 9 holes and learn by playing.

📖 Learn the basics — Golf etiquette, rules, pace of play and terminology are just as important as your swing.

🤝 Play with supportive people — Being around golfers who encourage you makes learning easier and a lot more fun.

After six months, will you be an expert?

Probably not — and you don’t need to be.

But you can be comfortable enough to play recreationally, join friends, participate in a charity or corporate outing, network on the golf course and confidently say:

“Yes, I golf.”

For many women—especially beginners, returning golfers, or anyone struggling with distance and direction—a mallet is usually the more forgiving starting point. A blade may suit a golfer who likes a lighter, traditional feel and naturally opens and closes the putter face.

The most important factors are:

* Comfortable putter length and posture
* Head and toe-hang matched to your stroke
* A grip size that feels natural
* Alignment markings you can see clearly
* Consistent speed control

“Women’s” labeling matters less than proper fit. Try both styles using short putts, long putts, and off-center strikes before deciding. If possible, a putter fitting can reveal which design helps you start the ball on line most consistently.

RWGN IS INDEPENDENT — AND STAYING THAT WAY

We want to clarify an important point for our members and the Rochester-area golf community:

Rochester Women’s Golf Network (RWGN) is NOT merging with any other women’s golf organization.

RWGN strongly believes in collaboration, cooperation, and supporting other women’s golf organizations. Working together can create more opportunities, friendships, and visibility for women’s golf — but collaboration does not mean consolidation or a merger.

RWGN will continue to operate as an independent, locally focused organization, with our own leadership, membership, programs, events, and direction.

We welcome opportunities to work alongside other organizations while maintaining the identity and mission that make each group unique.

Different organizations. Shared passion. More opportunities for women to golf.
