The Rochester Bored Humans is a member driven virtual third space; this means we rely on the engagement of members to make the RBHA an active community.

This event is open to anyone and there is no RSVP system for this so please be on time if you are interested! This is super informal but I figure starting at the East Shelter would help people find the group. The plan is to start the walk at 6pm heading towards 7th Street but realistically we'll probably start a few minutes after 6p.

Strollers and cat backpacks and encouraged while leashes and collars should be mandatory in case they manage to escape their carrier. Please anticipate dogs on the trails and the possibility of your kitties getting scared by them or vehicles as we walk along the road for a bit.

The weather looks good for the 24th, high of 68 or so, but I'll keep an eye on it.

🟢 March 1st - Six members of sat and watched Galaxy Quest
🟢 March 2nd - Three members of met at Zumbro Falls Bottom Horse Camp and hiked about 4 miles!
🟢March 4th - Game Night at Gamez n More
🟢March 7th - An evening social at Forager Brewery brought 6 members to the table for a casual conversation.

Good ! We had a busy Saturday the 15th!

🟢 Saturday 02/15 - 6 people went to Chester Woods to try XC Skiing and go hiking Hiking
🟢 Saturday, 02/15 - 4 people at Board Game Day hosted by
🟢 Saturday, 02/15 - 11 people went to Karaoke at Thesis Beer Project for their first Saturday karaoke of the year.

🟢 Saturday, 02/08 - 6 members continued their online campaign of Civilization 6
🟢 Saturday, 02/08 - 5 members went to Social Ice and enjoyed the music and each warm conversations around the fire pits.
🟢 Sunday, 02/09 - 3 members met at Godfather's Pizza Rochester
to discuss the "Science of Wellbeing" course from Coursera
🟢 Sunday, 02/09 - 2 members took take self portraits on a frozen lake

Updates:
Our has changed books to Good Omens Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman. Folks were having a hard time finding the previously chosen book to borrow. As always, they're constantly looking for additional books to read and talk about!

Happy !

Over the last week our members did the following:
🟢 February 1st - 8 members got together to walk Bear Cave in Stewartville.
🟢 February 1st - 33 members got together for our regular board game day! We had a variety of board games, Smash Bro tournaments, and food! A member even brought cultural snacks to celebrate Chinese New Year
🟢 February 2nd - 10 members hiked 2.5 miles along the 18 Hole Disc Golf Course at Gamehaven Reservoir. We checked out the frozen lake along the way and peeped some folks ice fishing; we made sure to stay off the groomed trails for Cross Country skiing!
🟢 February 2nd - Our got together to discuss their latest book at Forager Brewery. Their next book is going to be "So I'm a Spider, So What" by Okina Baba.
🟢 February 7th - A meetup was made for local activism regarding sustainable transportation in Rochester.
🟢 February 7th - got together to watch the movie Akira (1988). The movie takes place in 2019 where the Japanese government dropped a nuclear bomb on Tokyo 31 years prior when an ESP experiment on children goes awry.

In the near future
🔜 Check out the Anime Detour meetup for carpools, hotel blocks, and more for the upcoming convention in the Twin Cities
🔜 A campaign of Pathfinder will be hosted at Gamez & More:
The unmasking of Sapphire has weakened the Sewer Dragons' political standing, causing internal strife and a challenge to Chief Yiddlepode's leadership. Trapmaster Tok, blaming the Pathfinders for their misfortune, has challenged Yiddlepode, who has in turn sought the Pathfinders' help. The Player Characters must now demonstrate the value of their alliance to the Sewer Dragons to prevent further destabilization in Absalom.
🔜 Come and marvel in fantastic demonstrations at Physics Force held at the Mayo Civic Center that'll for sure captivate an audience of all ages.
🔜 is tentatively planning a mid-March meetup for their next book, if it's one you're interested in join the server and find the Book Club channel under Community! They're also looking for suggestions for future books as well, hop in and pitch a book you'd like to discuss with others!

Happy ! We had a slow week with in person meetups but we stayed busy online!

🟢 Saturday, the 25th of January - 15 members met up at Tap House downtown to drink and socialize
🟢 Sunday, the 26th - 5 members played an online round of Civilization 6
🟢 Sunday, the 26th - 3 members went to Welch Village for some ski and snow!

🟢January 17th - 6 members teamed up in the video game Marvel Rivals for a few hours.
🟢January 18th - Rochester Public Library had their Board Game day and 6 members attended!
🟢January 18th - A group of 5 members played Civilization 6 against each other
🟢January 18th - 6 members of our watched The Batman
🟢January 19th - 4 members of our met up and watched Wolfman at Marcus Theaters
🟢January 22nd - 8 Members of went and watched Talk To Me

🟢January 11th - 7 members of our got together and played a tournament.
🟢January 12th - 5 members played an online game of Civilization 6 against one another!
🟢January 12th - 3 members went to the hills of Welch Village for some powdery R&R
🟢January 15th - 4 Members went had did Karaoke at Charlies Pub
🟢January 17th - 6 Members attended Karaoke at Workshop Foodhall

No pictures for these meetups as all our members were having a great time living in the moment!

We've got some great meetups coming up soon:
🔜 January 26th is another trip to Welch Village for some snow hill therapy.
🔜 On February 9th, we'll be learning The Science of Well-Being as a self-paced free course through coursera. Start the course on your own time and then meetup to discuss what you've learned and what you'd like clarification on.
🔜 Anime Detour 2025 - Syndicates and Spies happens on March 28th in Minneapolis. Join the meetup thread to talk about rooms, carpools, panels, and more to prep!

ℹ Going forward these posts will cover the prior weekend instead of the latest weekend. I found myself writing these on Sunday nights to cover all the meetups that were happening, and figured shifting these will give me time to have a little more leeway if I procrastinate or if I have a busy weekend with meetups.

Happy ! We're ringing in the new year with a flurry of activity.

🟢12/31 - We had our NYE Party with about 40 friends. Food, Drinks, Golf/Sports Simulator, and a pool!
🟢01/01 - The following morning 5 of us got up early to watch the sunrise - it's apparently good luck to watch the sunrise on New Years - and go for a short meet. It was cloudy and cold but overall a good day!
🟢01/03 - A few members went and enjoyed Karaoke at Workshop
🟢01/03 - The second meetup for the real life interpretation of the video game Liars Bar happened. Members bluffed their way through dice and cards.
🟢01/04 - once again met up for a 2.5 mile hike through Oxbow in Byron. It was a brisk 3F for most of the walk but we stayed warm as we kept moving! Sometimes you can't find gloves so you improvise mittens with socks!
🟢01/04 - There was a small get together at Welch Village for some Skiing
🟢01/04 - got together and watched a marathon of Delicious in Dungeon
🟢01/04 - Afterwards there wasn't an official meetup but members met up at Charlies Pub for drinks and pool after Anime Club had concluded.
🟢01/05 - Four members who had not previously met got lunch at Firehouse Subs and caught up and talked about meetups they had been too.
