SUPPORT SOUGHT FOR MOHORIC FAMILY: While a mystery infection seems to be finally fading, Landen Mohoric of Boistfort remains in a medically-induced coma at Seattle’s Virginia Mason Medical Center, according to his parents, Sina and Tim Mohoric.
He ended up in a coma earlier this month after experiencing a sudden medical emergency — and has remained in a coma as doctors work “tirelessly to determine” Landen’s diagnosis, according to a GoFundMe.com campaign Melissa Knabel set up for his parents, Sina and Tim Mohoric, to help them with the mounting medical bills as Landen remains on life support.
“Landen's infection appears to be continuing to improve. He is still using a ventilator for breathing support and has not regained consciousness at this time,” Sina said in a May 24 GoFundMe update. “We had some cautiously optimistic conversations with his neurological teams yesterday. They shared that he still has profuse swelling of the brain, but it appears to have stopped getting worse. It can take days or even weeks for his brain to heal enough to regain some cognition and purposeful movement. We are in the ‘keep him stable and wait’ part of this journey. Thank you again for all your support. Keep those prayers and positive energy coming.”
It’s not just medical bills that are mounting, as Sina and Tim have now made many trips from Boistfort to Seattle to be with their son, an approximately 200-mile round trip.
“The Mohorics have been a long-standing family in our community, and Landen was a student at Boistfort Elementary,” the fundraising campaign added. “Now, one of our own needs our prayers and support more than ever. Please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser, and keeping Landen and his family in your thoughts. Together, we can show the Mohorics that they are not alone. Landen is Boistfort strong.”
The GoFundMe has a goal of raising $16,000.
In just over a week, a total of $14,260 has been donated as of May 27.
