CIDI - Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam of Rochester, MN

CIDI - Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam of Rochester, MN Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam (CIDI) was formed in 2014. Its goal is to foster interfaith But there is hope.

Muslims in America are often asked to explain the negative actions committed by extremists groups in other countries. The media's misrepresentation of Islam and Muslims in general have led to an increase in Islamophobia. Radical behavior attributed to one's religion is not unique to Islam. Indeed, any one person or group can take a verse from their holy book out of context to justify their twisted

, and sometime violent, ideologies. Muslims here in Rochester, MN, the US, and the world are reaching out more and more to other faith groups and neighbors to demonstrate what the true teachings of Islam are. Community-building activities occur very frequently. Unfortunately these positive efforts rarely capture media attention. The internet can be a confusing place to find reliable, trustworthy information on any topic, Islam included. I have been asked numerous times by those interested in learning about what Islam really teaches, where they can go on the web to find correct information on Islam. The goal of cidi is to:

Provide reliable information and sources on the religion of Islam. Work with local faith and diversity groups to encourage interfaith dialogue opportunities

Unite local Muslims of all backgrounds in an effort to enrich our beloved city.
