Monday, September 14, 2026 – 7 PM

You are cordially invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the RSO Society on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7 p.m. in Concordia Hall on the lower level of St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 West University Drive, Rochester Hills, Michigan.

You will meet the officer candidates for the Board of Directors, who are all volunteers and have agreed to run for election for 2026-2027. They are:

• Gerald Tschura for President
• Gary Morin for Vice President
• Julie Kinney for Treasurer
• Eileen Tschura for Recording Secretary
• Phyllis Relyea for Corresponding Secretary

Items on the agenda include approval of last year’s Annual Meeting minutes, election of officers, annual financial, membership, marketing, and ticket sales reports. Also, Maestro Bill Milicevic will outline his exciting plans for the upcoming 2026-2027 Season.

Congratulations to RSO musician, Nathan Shook (Principal Tuba). We are excited to announce that he has accepted a teaching position at Western Michigan University this fall. He will be responsible for the entire Tuba and Euphonium studio as well as teaching classes for music education students.

Nathan received his Doctorate in Tuba Performance at the University of Michigan, where he studied with David Zerkel. He also received other graduate degrees in Tuba Performance and Chamber Music from U-M, and earned his Bachelors in Music Education from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music. He has previously studied with Ken Heinlein, Craig Knox, John DiCesare, and Yasuhito Sugiyama. Nathan has performed in master classes for members of the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Metropolitan Opera.

We are thrilled that he will be able to continue playing with the Rochester Symphony. We wish him the very best in his new position!

Thank you for another successful year of outstanding symphonic music presented to you by your Rochester Symphony Orchestra. I hope you enjoyed this past season as much as I did. This just doesn’t happen on its own; it takes concertgoers like you to make it happen. Let’s do it again!

I am pleased to announce the 2026-2027 season’s lineup of spectacular music, starting with our free summer Concert in the Park on July 30, which will very appropriately present American and patriotic classics celebrating the 250th anniversary of our republic, A true Celebration of America. Beyond that, our upcoming series, beginning this fall and entitled CONNECTIONS, will prove to be nothing short of pure delight. Under the baton of Conductor Zeljko Milicevic, this year’s concert season will present music from around the world, past and present. Among the highlights, this season will feature a world-class classical guitar soloist, An Tran, performing some of the greatest pieces written for the instrument.

As a die-hard fan, I am especially looking forward to the RSO’s May concert entitled Here, There and Everywhere, featuring full symphonic presentations of Beatles classics. In short, this season is simply one you cannot miss.

The Rochester Symphony Guild (RSG) gathered for a spirited installation ceremony and luncheon, celebrating the induction of its dynamic new officers for the 2026-2027 season.

Introducing our new leadership team: President Eileen Tschura, Vice President Sue Slawski, Recording Secretary Theresa Meegan, Treasurer Carolyn Phelps, Assistant Treasurer Linda Keegan, and Corresponding Secretary Gelene Pigott. Each brings unique talents, vision, and enthusiasm to their roles. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and are eager to see the Guild flourish under their dynamic guidance. RSG Board member Sharon Postnieks presided over the installation ceremony.

The RSG is a vibrant group of fifty-two dedicated women, united by a shared passion for music and community. Their creative fundraising efforts and enthusiastic promotion of upcoming concerts play a vital role in supporting the Rochester Symphony Orchestra.

Each month (excluding December, June, July, and August), members gather at the Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township for a lively luncheon and business meeting, featuring inspiring speakers or captivating musical entertainment.

The Rochester Symphony Guild’s "Hats Off to Spring Afternoon Tea" fundraiser bloomed with cheer on April 23, 2026, at the Community House in Rochester, Michigan.

Each spring, Guild members throw this delightful tea party featuring a lively raffle, a spirited silent auction, and extraordinary musical entertainment that keeps everyone smiling all afternoon.

Guests sip from a wide array of fragrant teas and nibble on scrumptious tea sandwiches and irresistible sweets, all lovingly prepared by the Guild.

This year’s outstanding entertainment featured the enchanting melodies of flutist Barbara Ogar and cellist Andrea Thorne.

The crowd applauded as Jeanie MacVoy won the coveted award for Most Beautiful and Unique Hat, earning her two tickets to the Rochester Symphony Orchestra’s May 22 concert.
