The Rochester Symphony Guild (RSG) gathered for a spirited installation ceremony and luncheon, celebrating the induction of its dynamic new officers for the 2026-2027 season.

Introducing our new leadership team: President Eileen Tschura, Vice President Sue Slawski, Recording Secretary Theresa Meegan, Treasurer Carolyn Phelps, Assistant Treasurer Linda Keegan, and Corresponding Secretary Gelene Pigott. Each brings unique talents, vision, and enthusiasm to their roles. We extend our heartfelt congratulations and are eager to see the Guild flourish under their dynamic guidance. RSG Board member Sharon Postnieks presided over the installation ceremony.

The RSG is a vibrant group of fifty-two dedicated women, united by a shared passion for music and community. Their creative fundraising efforts and enthusiastic promotion of upcoming concerts play a vital role in supporting the Rochester Symphony Orchestra.

Each month (excluding December, June, July, and August), members gather at the Cherry Creek Golf Club in Shelby Township for a lively luncheon and business meeting, featuring inspiring speakers or captivating musical entertainment.

If you love music, enjoy meeting friendly, like-minded people, and want to help enrich the cultural life of greater Rochester, Michigan, the Guild welcomes you with open arms.

THE ROCHESTER SYMPHONY GUILD'S SYMPHONY OF STYLE

The Rochester Symphony Guild (RSG) is delighted to celebrate the resounding success of our annual Symphony of Style (SOS) Luncheon and Fashion Show, held on May 19 at the beautiful Twin Lakes Golf Course in Oakland Township, Michigan.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the guests whose presence and enthusiasm made the afternoon truly unforgettable. Our sincere appreciation also goes to the Boutique Vendors, who delighted attendees with an array of exquisite fashions, sparkling jewelry, unique home décor, stunning art, stylish accessories, and perfect essentials for the spring season and upcoming summer holidays.

A special thank you to Peppertree of Rochester, Michigan, for presenting a truly spectacular Fashion Show. We are equally grateful to the dedicated SOS Committee and our fabulous models, whose energy and charm brought the latest Peppertree styles to life on the runway.

We also thank our talented DJ, Super Dave, as well as Maestro Bill Milicevic and Susan Joul for their outstanding musical talents, which elevated the atmosphere and made the shopping experience truly special.

The orchestra is honored to present Staff Sgt. Nick Thompson, an extraordinary clarinetist from “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. As America’s oldest professional musical organization, the Marine Band has played a distinguished role in every presidential inauguration since Thomas Jefferson. Welcoming Nick to the RSO during our nation’s 250th anniversary is a true privilege. Celebrated for his virtuosity and commitment, Nick holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (2023) and a Master of Music (2018) from the University of Michigan, as well as a Bachelor of Music (2016) from George Mason University—all in Clarinet Performance. His acclaimed performances with the Marine Band and Marine Chamber Orchestra, both at the White House and across the country during annual concert tours, have enthralled audiences and showcased his exceptional musicianship and passion.

The concert will also feature Matthew Averyt, a 21-year-old cellist and winner of the 2026 Rita May - Young Artist Competition, performing with the RSO.

Join us on May 22 at 8:00 PM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Romeo Road in Rochester, Michigan, for a distinguished program featuring music from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Michael Torke’s Bright Blue Music, and Carl Maria von Weber’s Overture to Oberon.

The Rochester Symphony Guild’s "Hats Off to Spring Afternoon Tea" fundraiser bloomed with cheer on April 23, 2026, at the Community House in Rochester, Michigan.

Each spring, Guild members throw this delightful tea party featuring a lively raffle, a spirited silent auction, and extraordinary musical entertainment that keeps everyone smiling all afternoon.

Guests sip from a wide array of fragrant teas and nibble on scrumptious tea sandwiches and irresistible sweets, all lovingly prepared by the Guild.

This year’s outstanding entertainment featured the enchanting melodies of flutist Barbara Ogar and cellist Andrea Thorne.

The crowd applauded as Jeanie MacVoy won the coveted award for Most Beautiful and Unique Hat, earning her two tickets to the Rochester Symphony Orchestra’s May 22 concert.

The Rochester Symphony Orchestra invites you to “Reassurance and Peace,” an evening of live orchestral music that promises to move, inspire, and linger long after the final note. Join us Friday, May 22, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester for a performance you will not soon forget.

Under the baton of Maestro Zeljko Milicevic, this exceptional, captivating performance brings to life the extraordinary artistry and versatility of the orchestra’s finest musicians.

The orchestra is thrilled to feature the remarkable clarinetist Staff Sgt. Nick Thompson, a distinguished member of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. We are proud to announce that Matthew Averyt, a 21-year-old cellist and winner of the 2026 Rita May-Young Artist Competition, has been selected as this season’s featured SOLOIST. Matthew will perform Antonín Dvořák’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, No. 2 in B minor, Opus 104, third movement with the RSO. Matthew began his cello studies at age 11 and is now a senior at the University of Michigan, where he serves as co-principal cellist of the University Symphony Orchestra. He has earned top prizes in several competitions and has performed with orchestras across the United States. We eagerly anticipate Matthew’s concert appearance with the RSO.

Rochester, MI — The Rochester Symphony Orchestra is delighted to invite music lovers to an inspiring afternoon concert, Joy and Strife, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester.

Led by Maestro Zeljko Milicevic, this exceptional performance showcases the artistry and versatility of the orchestra’s premier professional musicians in an intimate and acoustically rich setting.

The orchestra is excited to feature distinguished symphony member Michael McGowan, principal trumpet of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra and the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, as a special guest soloist.

McGowan has appeared extensively with the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra, the DSO Brass Quintet, and Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. His career includes performances in touring Broadway productions and collaborations with celebrated artists such as Burt Bacharach and Kristin Chenoweth.

Violinist Tracy Gibson will join McGowan for a performance of the concert piece "The Storyteller."

The program includes works by James M. Stevenson, Johann Pachelbel, Percy Grainger, Georg Philipp Telemann, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, offering audiences a dynamic blend of emotional depth and musical brilliance.

Attendees will experience the power and beauty of live orchestral music up close in the welcoming atmosphere of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
