Before Rochester spends millions trying to “dump RG&E,” residents deserve real answers.
A public takeover may sound simple.

But the real questions are bigger:

• What would it cost to buy the infrastructure?
• Who would pay for it?
• How much debt would be required?
• Where would the electricity still come from?
• Would bills actually go down?
Frustration is real. But frustration is not a financial plan.

Millions could be spent on Rochester’s energy system. Before any decision is made, residents deserve answers:
• How much would it cost?
• Who would pay?
• How much debt would be required?
• Where would electricity come from?
• Would bills actually go down?
These are not arguments — they are the questions taxpayers need answered.

Everyone is talking about dumping RG&E.
Fair question:
If Rochester bought the system tomorrow...
Who pays for it?
Where does the power come from?
Would bills actually go down?
Those questions deserve answers before millions are spent.
We're digging into them now.

Communities across New York are asking difficult questions about infrastructure expansion.
Not because people oppose reliability — but because large-scale projects affect:
• farmland
• neighborhoods
• taxes
• local character
• traffic
• construction
• and long-term planning.
These conversations are growing statewide.

“Who Actually Approves Energy Projects?”
Most people never see the approval process behind major energy projects in New York.
But understanding it matters.
State agencies, ORES, local governments, hearings, zoning questions, and permitting timelines all play major roles in shaping where projects go and how communities are impacted.
More New Yorkers are starting to ask: Who actually has the final say?

New York wants more electrification.
But who decides where the infrastructure actually goes?

Across New York, communities are increasingly asking questions about: • solar farms
• transmission lines
• battery storage
• local zoning
• state override authority
• farmland use
• infrastructure expansion
• and long-term affordability.
This is one of the most important energy conversations happening in New York right now.

“Infrastructure Delays Become Expensive”

Infrastructure timelines increasingly matter economically.

Large-scale transmission, modernization, and grid-expansion projects often require years of: • permitting, • review, • financing, • coordination, • and deployment.
Meanwhile, electricity demand continues rising.

The Monroe Energy Council’s latest analysis examines how delayed infrastructure expansion can compound long-term affordability and reliability pressure across the broader system.
