The undulating terrain of the neighborhood contributes to the rural character of this neighborhood that many residents have cited as one of the greatest attributes of the area. fic levels in recent years, residents continue to describe their neighborhood as quiet and removed from the urban environment of the City, yet with the convenience of the City not far away. The neighborhood has a wide array of land uses including two golf course/country clubs, Thrasher Park - an almost 22 acre site popular for picnics and recreation, industrial districts including the Roanoke Center for Industry and Technology (RCIT), Enterprise Zones, single family subdivisions including some of the newest construction in the City, and numerous commercial establishments. Devoted to the promotion of civic improvement and community awareness. Has been instrumental in numerous accomplishments, including the construction of the firehouse on Mecca Street and the development of Thrasher Park. Monthly meetings often feature a speaker addressing a topic of relevance to the neighborhood. Participates in National Night Out. Annual picnic. Welcomes the interest and support of all neighborhood residents. Actively represents the neighborhood on various city committees. Volunteer opportunities. Newsletters
