Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Community Empowerment Center at Booker T. Washington yesterday to celebrate our launch! We were proud to enroll more children yesterday, bringing Roanoke City's total registration to more than 620 children in one month! Hi 👋 to all book-lovers in Roanoke. Guess what? In just one week, we’ve registered almost 500(!) children! Our friends at Imagination Library of Roanoke County have registered a similar number. Our goal was 1,000 children in the city + county within three years, so… talk about successfully meeting a goal!

Keep those registrations coming! But let’s also talk about other ways the community can help. This program is free to families thanks to generous local funders like the Junior League of Roanoke Valley. We wouldn’t have been able to get off the ground without their support. As we grow, we will have a continued need for funding.

Thank you to The Roanoke Times for helping to spread the word that 100% of children in the Roanoke and New River Valleys now have access to free books through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

We've been blown away by the community's support. In less than 24 hours, we received 250 registrations for the Roanoke City program. If you know a family with children between the ages of 0-5, please encourage them to register at imaginationlibrary.com/check-availaility!

Roanoke city and county now join Montgomery County, Salem and dozens of other locations in Virginia in being part of Dolly Parton's program.

Roanoke City Public Schools is proud to serve as the local program partner for Roanoke City, alongside the Roanoke Public Libraries Foundation. This is possible thanks to a foundational investment from the Junior League of Roanoke Valley and a matching grant from E3: Elevate Early Education that supports both Imagination Library of Roanoke County and us.
