We have an important update to share with our Roanoke community.

After much prayer and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming Roanoke, Virginia kickoff and will not be able to move forward with this expansion at this time.

We know many of you have been excited about the possibility of an Isaiah 117 House coming to Roanoke, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment and any inconvenience this may cause. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this mission and invested time, energy, hope, and prayers into this process.

We are, and will continue to be, deeply grateful for the community members who believed an Isaiah 117 House could make a difference for children and families in Roanoke.

🏡❤️One of the easiest ways to be involved with our ministry is to set your alarm for 1:17pm every day and pray for all of the foster children, foster families, case workers, and the Isaiah 117 organization. We covet your prayers as we move toward kick off on October 11th and kickstart fundraising for our very own house in Roanoke! While we don't know exactly what the future looks like for that, we trust God is going to be faithful to supply our needs! 🏡❤️

At Isaiah 117 House, our mission is simple but powerful. ❤️
When children are removed from their homes, we exist to meet them with comfort, care, and compassion during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

Our mission is threefold:
🏠 Reduce trauma for children waiting for placement
🏠 Lighten the load for child welfare services
🏠 Ease the transition for foster families

Every detail matters because every child matters. Thank you for being part of a mission that truly lives out Isaiah 1:17.

❤️ Story from an open home ❤️
It was the middle of the night, and she was sleeping when she arrived at the house. Once she woke up, the caseworker brought her into the house, and we changed her diaper and got her into some comfy pajamas. We fixed her a fresh bottle and sat down to rock her back to sleep. She was relaxed and content as we rocked her and looked into her brown eyes. She seemed to feel safe!
Placement was found before we could get her to sleep, but as we packed up her bag and changed her diaper one more time, she started to smile and clap. What a blessing to be able to provide safety and comfort to a child on a really hard day! ❤️

A story from an open home ❤️

We had a sibling group visit that shared how much they love the Isaiah 117 House.

Our volunteer asked, “What do you like about the house?”

“I like that I could have as many chicken nuggets as I want.”
“I like that your refrigerator has so much food in it.”
“I like that every time I ask for a snack or a drink or something else you say yes.”
“I like that I got my own bed.”
“I like that it’s a house. It’s been a long time since we were in a house.”

What a powerful reminder of why we exist… to provide physical and emotional support for children entering foster care. 🏡❤️

❤️ A story from an open home. ❤️

A girl walked through our doors much like many children do - closed off, scared, and unsure of everything and everyone around her. She often insisted on sitting alone and was having a really hard time opening up.

One of our amazing volunteers sat with her and brought down some crafts. We simply placed them on the table and waited in the silence.

Eventually, she picked something up and said, “I love being creative. I’ve done diamond art before.”

So we sat with her.

She did slime kits as we laughed together. She crocheted blankets. We diamond painted. We crafted, we smiled, we laughed and most importantly, we were together.

She began to open up because sometimes sitting in the silence matters. Sometimes children need the time and space to process big emotions and feelings. Sometimes connection doesn’t come from asking more questions, but from simply being present, wanting to connect, and showing them that you care.

What started as a quiet day filled with uncertainty turned into a whole day of crafts, laughter, connection, and of course… PALS! ❤️

Here at the Isaiah 117 House, every child is loved, valued, and cared for.

Sometimes, all it takes is someone willing to sit in the silence.
