Southeast District Greenhand Fire-Up

Highland FFA had four freshmen travel to WACO High School for the Southeast District Greenhand Fire-Up!

Our freshmen had the opportunity to learn more about what FFA has to offer, including communication, meeting new people, building connections, and discovering the many opportunities available to them through FFA.

Events like Greenhand Fire-Up are a great way for our newest members to get involved, step outside their comfort zones, and begin growing as FFA members and leaders.

A big thank you to WACO High School for hosting this opportunity and providing a great opportunity for our freshmen!

💧 Washington County 5th Grade Safety Day 💧

Today, Highland Agriculture Education had four students travel to the Washington County Fairgrounds to present on water safety during Washington County 5th Grade Safety Day!

Students taught area 5th graders about the importance of wearing a life jacket, how to properly wear one, choosing the correct size, and age requirements. They also discussed what equipment needs to be on a boat during a safety check, along with important safety considerations when on the water during the winter months.

It was a great day of learning, and these girls did an excellent job representing the Highland School District and our surrounding communities while sharing important safety information with students from across Washington County.

We are proud of the time and effort they put into preparing and presenting!

A special thank you to Washington County Extension and Sam Jamison for reaching out and providing this opportunity for our students! We appreciate being able to have our students share their knowledge with others in the community.

On Thursday, July 23, exhibitors were greeted with a cool morning for the Washington County Fair Market Beef Show. Highland High School students competed through both 4-H and FFA, with the Highland FFA Chapter being represented by Avery Phillips.
