Each year, Southeast District and Iowa FFA officers plan and facilitate Chapter Officer Leadership Training (C**T) Conferences for FFA members across the Southeast District. This year, 184 students representing 29 chapters attended the conference. WACO High School in Wayland welcomed FFA chapters from across the district on June 8, 2026. All of the Highland FFA officers for the 2026-27 school year took time to attend despite busy work schedules, vacations, and athletic commitments.
During the conference, district and state officers led four interactive workshops for local chapter leaders, many of whom serve as chapter officers. The workshops focused on advocating for the agriculture industry, connecting with stakeholders, recruiting new members, and working together as a cohesive team. Participants also received training specific to their individual officer responsibilities within their local chapters.
Nora Pickhinke stated, “The C**T Conference provides an opportunity for FFA members to learn more about their responsibilities as local leaders while connecting with state, district, and other chapter officers.”
C**T Conference programming is designed as a two-year rotation of leadership training. The focus areas for next year's program will include agricultural literacy, time management, professionalism, and self-confidence. The goal is to engage FFA members in learning skills and tools that will help them succeed in high school and beyond.
The C**T Conference is made possible through the support of Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company of Iowa and the Iowa FFA Foundation.
