We weren't quite ready to give up on summer yet.

Join us on Friday night beginning at 5:30 for one last Fab Friday to celebrate making it through the first week of school.

Thank you to Cupsaw Music, we will be hosting 2 food trucks and closing out summer with the same band we kicked it off with... K&P Acoustically!

Consider this a small preview of what's to come at Cuptoberfest on October 10!

Ferraro’s Flame & Ember is coming out to Fab Friday on its very first maiden voyage ! We will be serving wood fired Neapolitan style pizza fresh off the flame!

Eat My Balls has an old-school gangster-style motif and a no-nonsense motto, serving up a one-of-a-kind variety of authentic homemade riceballs.

Our snack stand will also be open.

Please note: Our Lifeguards are now off duty for the season. The lake is now “Swim at your own risk” until next summer. All waterfront rules still apply, such as no jumping off the walls and lifeguard chairs. Please watch your small children at all times especially in deep water. Be safe!

A sad anniversary. 8 years ago today (8/28/2018), Cupsaw Lake was closed for a few weeks due to a harmful algal bloom also known as a HAB. This was due to excess cyanobacteria and NJ's initial threshold which was the lowest in the world at the time. The DEP has improved its guidance since then, but 2018 was the year they rolled through NJ lakes with closed signs. Most of the large lakes in NJ were affected. It was a sloppy rollout that also coincided with the debate over the proposed “rain tax.”

We have improved the planktonic situation, but the underlying cause (nutrients from the watershed) still remains.

This situation can be improved, but the solutions lie in the watershed, not the lake itself.

We have formed Skylands Guardian, a 501c3 to begin the long process of improving our watershed. The first visible project is in the lake, the floating wetlands just north of turtle island. More actions will follow, but it will take the whole community to help our watershed reduce the nutrients that flow into the lake.

The Borough was also able to use the 2021 Watershed report for Ringwood Lakes to get a grant to build the rain garden at Ryerson. Small steps, but many steps gets one up the mountain. We just need to keep moving in the right direction.

Note: Picture from 2015, not 2018.
