Rickreall Christmas Pageant

Rickreall Christmas Pageant Share what years you attended and/or participated in the Rickreall Christmas Pageant and what it meant to you.

CREATING A FAMILY TRADITION for 75 years 1938 through 2015 (not held during the war years 1942-44) Will always be remembered as Rickreall’s contribution to the Christmas season in commemoration of Him who gave so freely of Himself.

How special the Pageant was to all of us. Please enjoy the beautiful and meaningful poem written about the Pageant by a Pageant Family member (who wishes to remain anonymous).

IN MEMORY OF THE RICKREALL CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

As neighbors and friends they came together
They didn't really care about the weather

It was something that happened every year
Just as Christmas was about to grow near

They shook hand and hugged as they greeted one another
And looked towards the director as if their mother

With props and make-up, a costume or two
They knew exactly what they needed to do

For seventy-five years their commitment was true
As they told the story to me and you

They stepped on the stage and took us back in time
And we forgot everything else that was on our mind

There were sheppards and neighbors and kings and queens
And they meant what they said in every scene

The choir sang with a heavenly sound
and the joy they felt was all around

The room fell silent when the manger appeared
It was a sight they all held in their hearts so dear

Now the tradition has come to an end
The pain in their hearts is not pretend

So many years they shared the story
About how Christmas started in all its glory

Never forget the lesson that was taught
God's love is more precious that any gift that can be bought

Dear Pageant Family,

The December 2015 Annual Rickreall Christmas Pageant was a huge success for our 75th annual performance season. We feel blessed that the Pageant has been a tradition for such a long time. However, times have changed. The costs to put on the Pageant are increasing every year, and as an Oregon Non-Profit, we survive on donations only. The notices for seeking a Pageant Director has not resulted in any inquiries or volunteers to replace retiring director, Mary McCarron. See our web site www.RickreallChristmasPageant.com for the volunteer position posting. Many of our other key people have also retired, such as our Choir Director, Choir Representative, and Stage Manager.

The Board of Directors will be meeting on June 16th to make final decisions about the Pageant’s future according to our bi-laws. Please respond to this email by Sunday, June 12th if you have any suggestions or have questions about the future of the Pageant.

Thank you for loyal support, Mary McCarron, Retired Pageant Director (2005 to 2015)

Greetings,
This year’s annual Rickreall Christmas Pageant is a really big deal, our 75th year! This performance of the Nativity Story has been quite a tradition in our community and we would like to invite your family to become involved alongside our pageant family in celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus.
There are a few openings, at this point, in the cast. The Roman Soldier, is a non-speaking part that calls for a large imposing man. Elizabeth, is a speaking part for a woman. The Inn Keepers, are male, nonspeaking parts. There is still room for more members to join the chorus. More openings may become apparent as practices begin this week.
This is Mary McCarron’s last year as Cast Director. At this point no one has expressed interest in the position. I would like to request that you put the word out that we are looking for a new Cast Director. We have a position description available upon request. Any interest should be directed to Mary McCarron at 503-851-2683. If a new Cast Director is not found, this will be our last year.
Please visit our Website at RickreallChristmasPageant.com for information and feel free to communicate with us here on Facebook.

Hello everyone.

This year’s annual Rickreall Christmas Pageant is a really BIG DEAL…our 75th! Please help us get the word out to everyone!

The performance dates are Dec 3rd, Dec 4th and Dec 5th.

See also attached information about November practices and important December dates. Dress rehearsal will be on 12/1 and start earlier at 7:00 pm, so we have time for still photos for each scene and choir. More details coming, but we are looking for up to 3 volunteer photographers with tripods to take photos. If you know someone, please refer them to Mary McCarron

This is Mary McCarron’s last year as Director. At this point no one has expressed interest in the position, so this could very well be our last year. Let’s make it an awesome one!

We look forward to hearing from you soon and any comments or questions you may have.

Please respond regarding your participation and any questions
