🦜 This wildlife calls the Chocó-Andino bioregion in Ecuador home, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. It’s also where Fundación Maquipucuna, one of our capacity-building partners, is working to protect 14,000 acres of cloud forest and the wildlife that depends on it, including endangered species like the Andean (spectacled) bear.
🌿 Through conservation, environmental education, research, and sustainable eco-tourism, Maquipucuna works with local communities and governments to protect ecosystems while creating long-term economic opportunities. Their efforts also helped establish the Chocó-Andino Biosphere Reserve, demonstrating that protecting nature can generate far greater benefits than exploiting it.
🤝 Pennywise is partnering with Maquipucuna and Earth Analytic (a mapping and geospatial analysis company specializing in environmental preservation). These partnerships allow us to raise international awareness of and support for these critical natural resources in addition to promoting their responsible stewardship.
