On Monday, August 10, 2026, at 7:34 a.m. local time a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia. Centered near San José del Palmar in the Chocó region, it caused widespread building collapses and heavy damage. Ongoing rescue operations have reported hundreds of fatalities and thousands of injuries.

Tierra Grata, our partner on the ground, is ready to meet the moment. Tierra Grata works with remote, rural communities across Colombia to improve well-being and productivity by expanding access to essential services such as clean energy, safe water, and sanitation.

Your donation will support families affected in Chocó through the reconstruction of damaged homes and the delivery of essential solutions developed by Tierra Grata.

🤝 We’re excited to continue our partnership with the Community Organizing Alliance (COA) of Maine, as a VoteWise grantee!

🗳️ Earlier this year, Pennywise supported COA through our Urgent Response Fund as they provided critical support to immigrant families affected by increased ICE activity in Maine. We are heartbroken by the death of Joan Sebastián Guerrero, who was killed during an ICE-involved shooting in Biddeford, Maine.

Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, and communities grieving this devastating loss. We stand in solidarity with our partner on the ground, the Community Organizing Alliance (COA), and people across Maine in calling for a full, transparent, and independent investigation into what occurred.
