Happy Earth Day 🌱
Today we celebrate the soil beneath our feet, the hands that plant seeds, and the communities that grow together.
Heart Beet reminds us to love the garden.
Compo reminds us that nothing is wasted—everything has purpose.
At Biggs Road Community Garden, we believe: ✨ Small choices become big impact
✨ Food is a right, not a privilege
✨ Community is something we grow—together
Let’s keep showing up for the Earth and for each other.
Because when we care for the land… we care for life.

💚 They’ve cleared the trees. The birds are gone.

Our garden — our last piece of peace — stands surrounded by bulldozers and trucks. But it’s still alive. 🌱

The Biggs Road Community Garden feeds families and grows hope for Southside Richmond.

We need your hands, your time, and your heart.

🌻 We are seeking dependable, consistent volunteers to help us water, plant, and protect what’s left.

🌱 Sustaining the Work that Sustains Us 🌱

This work — growing food, community, and connection — fills my soul. But I can’t do it alone.

Balancing a full-time job and leading SOCO Grows has stretched me thin. I’ve poured my heart, time, and resources into this garden, but keeping a steady volunteer base has been hard.

We received a donation of recycled plastic lumber — a gift that could transform our space for years — but I need hands to help bring it to life.

To my peers doing this kind of work: how do you sustain the mission when capacity runs low but the calling stays strong?

🤍 Claudia

When I can’t keep up, the weeds grow. The harvest suffers. Families who rely on this food feel that loss.

If we don’t act now, we risk losing this land—and all the work poured into it.

🌱 Step into the gap. Adopt a bed. Join the Seedling Squad. Be part of saving this space.
