Hello, you're here by invited to participate!

Join the project team to discuss the proposed improvements for the Bayview Avenue improvements Project, which aims to enhance biking, walking, and traffic conditions along Bayview Avenue and Potrero Avenue.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Bayview Avenue Improvements Project aims to improve multimodal safety, accessibility, and connectivity along Bayview Avenue from the eastbound I-580 ramps past Carlson Boulevard to Ells Street and along Potrero Avenue from Carlson Boulevard to South 52nd Street. Key elements of the project include the construction of Class IV separated bikeways along Bayview Avenue and South 51st Street to the Bay Trail, and the installation of Class II bike lanes along Potrero Avenue. Additionally, the project will implement ADA-compliant curb ramps, new curb extensions, intersection geometry refinements, and upgraded signage and striping. These improvements will close network gaps, enhance access within an Equity Priority Community, and create more seamless connections to public transit, schools, and the San Francisco Bay Trail.

PROJECT TIMELINE
The City of Richmond anticipates advertising the Bayview Avenue Improvements Project for construction bids in Spring 2026, with construction commencing in Fall 2026. The Design Engineering Evaluation Report (DEER) will be completed in coordination with Caltrans District 4 to secure project approval and federal authorization prior to the start of final construction documentation.

Did you know you can report specific potholes to your city and request repairs, all from your phone? A few minutes of action improves our community. Join Bike East Bay for their Hazard Reporting Webinar on Tuesday January 13 from 6:30-7:30pm to learn tools, tips and tricks. Then, take what you learned and join their from Jan. 12-19 to report as many potholes in Richmond as possible! Learn more and RSVP for the webinar at BikeEastBay.org/Pothole-Challenge

12/23/2025

Introducing…….the ! From January 12-19, we want to see how many potholes we can collectively track down and get fixed in the East Bay! Will you join us?

This mini campaign will kick off a year of small actions that have a big impact. By reporting hazards, we’re using the tools and language that our cities need to know which roads to improve. Regular road maintenance is necessary, especially as cars get heavier and strain the asphalt. As a community of people who share the road and are committed to safe streets for all, we want to contribute to solutions that help everybody travel safely.

So join us for this practical, fun, at-your-own pace challenge! We’ll send more reminders out in January, but for now you can head to BikeEastBay.org/Pothole-Challenge to sign up for email reminders and RSVP for the virtual training we’ll host on Jan. 13 to equip you with everything you need to start reporting potholes!

Hey rollers,

Join us for a momentous event next week as we celebrate the 6th Anniversary of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Trail!

Six years ago, we fought for and won access to this incredible 4-mile path across the bay, connecting the East Bay and Marin. It’s a route that offers unmatched views and a vital link for bike commuters and recreational riders alike.

But our work isn't done.

This anniversary ride is a celebration and a protest. We are taking to the bridge to demonstrate the trail's critical importance and to stand firmly against the recent, disheartening decision to close access on weekdays (Mondays-Thursdays).

This is your chance to celebrate our success and fight for the future of Bay Area bike access.

Event Details

What: Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Trail 6th Anniversary Ride

When: Sunday, November 9, 2025

Time: Meet at 10:00 AM | Roll at 10:30AM (Ride until ~2:00 PM)

Where: Richmond BART Plaza (1600 Nevin Plaza, Richmond, CA 94801)

The ride will follow the route (available on RideWithGPS) across the bridge, emphasizing the need for 24/7, year-round access. Bring your bike, your helmet, your energy, and your dedication to sustainable Bay Area mobility.

We need to send an unmistakable message to decision-makers: Keep the Bridge Trail Open!

RSVP here: https://bikeeastbay.org/event/richmond-san-rafael-bridge-trail-6th-anniversary-ride/

Let's ride together for a stronger, better-connected Bay Area!

See you on the bridge,
