• Rafer A. Giles Sr, formed the organization after two successful seasons with the Virginia Stars as head coach. Giles’ vision, love for the sport and heart for youth, bought him to the point of organizing his own league. He formally played basketball for Henrico High School (1983-1986) and continued his career and education at the University of Massachusetts (1987-1991). His amateur basketball coaching career has included the Virginia Stars (2009-2011) and East End Youth Basketball Association (2007-2008) Giles has accrued many awards. In 1985 and 1986 he was, 2-Time Colonial District player of the year, 2-Time All Metro and 2-Time All State. 1986, Giles was Central Region player and Times Dispatch player of the year. His high school career points totaled 1365 with an average of 19 points. Giles went on to post graduate school, attending Fork Union Military Academy (1986-1987), where he played and they were the only team to be undefeated (29-0). In 1987, He was granted a full scholarship to University of Massachusetts. While at UMASS, in 1991, he received an award for All Atlantic Ten Freshman team. He was the 16th player in UMASS history to reach the 1000 point mark. Overall in his college career, Giles scored 1053 points. Giles has been recognized with the Sixth Man Award, which is given out each year for the most deserving 6th man on the University of Massachusetts basketball squad. Rafer received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts in 1991. Through his many connections to Auburn, UMASS, Drexel, Kentucky and Portland Trailblazers, the organization will receive the visibility from many colleges and possible professional recruiters and affiliates. Giles and his wife, Paula have two daughters, Sade, who is a freshman attending Norfolk State and Raven, who attends Henrico High School Center for the Arts and two sons, Rafer Jr., a 2nd grader at Harvie Elementary and their youngest 3 year old, Jordan.
