The purpose of the Virginia Pharmacists Association is to assure the viability and vitality of the profession of pharmacy by advocating for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in legislative, regulatory, and public affairs. Because of your commitment, VPhA can strengthen relationships with legislators, support pharmacy champions, and advocate for policies that protect patients, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and the profession as a whole.

Thank you to Governor Abigail Spanberger for convening today's H.R. 1 implementation roundtable with healthcare leaders from across the Commonwealth.

VPhA was proud to represent Virginia pharmacy and contribute to important conversations about how implementation will impact patients and the broader healthcare ecosystem. It was also great to join fellow pharmacy leaders, including VCPA President Steve Hylton, in demonstrating our shared commitment to advancing the profession.

We also appreciated the opportunity to connect with Virginia DMAS Director Ford to discuss continued collaboration on implementation of Virginia's Single Pharmacy Benefit Manager (SPBM) model.

When pharmacy has a seat at the table, patients benefit. Thank you to everyone committed to working together to strengthen healthcare across the Commonwealth.

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration filed its intent to temporarily place 7-hydroxymitagynine (7-OH) and three related substances into Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). Prior to DEA issuing this notice, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed synthetic 7-OH, and the three related substances have no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.
