Richmond community — we’d love your input.

We’re currently building the lineup for our Kids on First Celebrity Softball Game taking place on October 31 at Richmond Spiders Field, and we want this to truly reflect the people who make this city special.

We’re inviting nominations for local individuals who inspire, lead, and represent Richmond—whether in sports, media, business, or community work.

If someone comes to mind, we want to hear from you.

Please comment below or send a message with your nominations. Our goal is to bring together a group that not only creates an unforgettable event, but also helps us raise critical support for youth in our community.

This event is about more than softball—it’s about access, opportunity, and showing up for the next generation.

Thank you for being part of it.

Yesterday at VSU, we had the opportunity and honor to host our friend Joe Harris a power five SE and 312 Umpire. Joe joins us for the second time at VSU to talk to Kids about careers in officiating and followed up with an hour long clinic with Virginia state baseball just show exactly how it’s done and how hard it is even though he makes it look super easy.

Meeting Mark Deom and connecting with MLB Bros was a reminder of something real…

isn’t corporate. It’s not surface-level. It’s not transactional. It’s not selfish. It’s not “what’s in it for me”.

It’s culture. It’s history. It’s community. It’s family.

There’s a level of authenticity and support in this space that you can’t manufacture — it’s built through shared experiences, storytelling, and a genuine love for the game and for each other.

As someone who works in this space, I don’t take that lightly. Being a white woman in the Black baseball community, I’m aware of the responsibility that comes with being invited into these rooms and conversations. And what stands out most is the support, the openness, and the commitment to uplifting one another.

This isn’t just media — it’s movement. It’s legacy. It’s people making sure the true culture of Black baseball is seen, heard, and respected.

Grateful for the conversations, the connections, and the continued work being done to push the game forward the right way.
