Hybrid worship is now an essential need for our congregations and the Bishop's Appeal has provided funds to assist with purchasing technology, expanding platforms, and evaluating requirements for online and hybrid worship. Since the pandemic began, we've had more and more churches reach out for help for assistance with livestreaming and hybrid worship and the Bishop's Appeal has helped them navigate this new experience to best meet the needs of their members as well as preach the Gospel.

Your gifts make it possible for churches to continue to spread God's message of love in the world. https://lght.ly/kneal9h

Our prayers often mention those who are hungry because without meeting our basic needs of food, rest, security, and shelter our body and our brain have a difficult time concentrating on anything else.

Each year the Bishop's Appeal funds food pantries, community gardens, and other feeding programs so that our neighbors will not go hungry. Your gifts make it possible for change to happen one person at a time.

Did you know that the Bishop's Appeal grants that congregations throughout the Diocese receive are funded through gifts? You make a difference in so many ways. Through hybrid worship opportunities for those who cannot come back to worship with us due to their health, funding feeding ministries to care for those in need, caring for the needs of our young people, and providing contemplative spaces for worship.

Please make a gift to fund next year's grants. https://lght.ly/ecmm206

St. Thomas', Richmond received a Bishop's Appeal grant for a pallet jack. Yep. That's right! Pre-pandemic their food pantry served about 75 families a week and by July 2022 they were serving over 400, so they needed some help. They use the pallet jack to move the food they receive from the food bank and other sources.

Your gift to the Bishop's Appeal feeds the hungry throughout our Diocese - all year long. https://lght.ly/bcjgj9k

One of our recent Bishop's Appeal recipients was La Iglesia de Cristo Rey who needed a computer and Zoom license in order to begin worshipping together again during the pandemic. The Rev. Catherine Campbell, vicar of Cristo Rey explained, “The grant enabled us to reach so many parishioners through Facebook and Zoom. It was invaluable for the congregation during the pandemic.”

Your gift to the Bishop's Appeal spreads the word and brings people together throughout our Diocese.

In this third week of Advent we light the candle of Joy and celebrate Christ's coming to earth.

Through the Bishop's Appeal we're able to give joy to so many people all throughout the year. Whether it's through the various feeding ministries that ensure their neighbors don't go hungry or through hybrid worship opportunities that keep communities together during this difficult time.

You can learn about the stories of previous grant recipients and make a gift to help those throughout our community.

Christ Church, Millwood was able to use a grant from the Bishop's Appeal to buy proteins from local farmers for their food pantry to supplement the regular canned meats that they can normally provide to their clients. Now they're able to provide healthier options to those who are hungry and have established good relationships with the farmers.

You can make a difference like this for people in your community, and in communities throughout our Diocese, with a gift to the Bishop's Appeal: https://lght.ly/0lg7f39

In the second week of Advent we light the candle of Peace, reminding us that that Jesus brings peace in many ways. For those of us who are part of a faith community, it's comforting and brings us peace to worship with one another. The pandemic change much about our world and our worship. Thanks to the Bishop's Appeal some of our churches have received grants to assist with funds for hybrid worship needs.

You can bring peace to people who are unable to worship in person by making a gift to the Bishop's Appeal: https://lght.ly/f2oiamf

Immanuel, Old Church received a Bishop's Appeal grant last year with a goal of providing a variety of outside programs to enrich their students. They welcomed the Children’s Museum of Richmond who presented the program “Holidays Around the World,” in which the students were able to learn about a number of different holidays that they normally wouldn’t have heard about. They also received a visit from the Plush Mobile Clinic for a hands-on where students were guided through a variety of medical steps to care for their stuffed animals using stethoscopes, needle-less syringes, scales, thermometers, and even put a colorful bandage on them.

"Our biggest need was to have a Stretch-n-Grow coach come once per week, September - January, and give a fitness class for our students. This was, by far, a favorite of both our students and our staff. Each week there was a theme and the students did movement-based activities based on the theme. Our students looked forward to this each week. It was a truly amazing program. Thank you!"

Trinity, Upperville received a Bishop's Appeal grant to construct a Zoom Room for Vestry and Staff Meetings. "In a post-COVID environment having a virtual space enables us to adapt to the changing realities of workflow. This transformed space has special whiteboard paint on the walls enabling Vestry, Rector, Staff, and Musicians to use the walls for creative thinking, and also has built-in Zoom conferencing capabilities. In conjunction with Resolution R-1a, this space will enable virtual meetings, reduce travel, drive energy efficiency, and lower emissions."

Your gifts to the Bishop's Appeal provide opportunities for congregations to step out on faith and create projects that benefit us all. https://lght.ly/a318dlk
