We’re giving away bagged snacks and books at the table out front, and our college students will be there to welcome you with a smile until 2p.m. Bring the kids by, grab a snack, pick out a book, and enjoy!!! SoulFest is THIS WEEKEND!!! Join us for SoulFest, a free community celebration on Saturday, July 18th from 3–9pm at Jack Elstro Plaza. Enjoy food trucks and local vendors, line dancing, laser tag, lawn games, and a b**r garden for the 21+ crowd. Sing your heart out in the karaoke contest from 6–8pm (first 15 to sign up and prizes for the top singer!), try your luck with raffle baskets, and bring the kids for face painting and a community art board. Come as you are and bring your neighbors! FREE and open to EVERYONE!

We are still accepting late vendor applications. If you are interested but haven't gotten a chance to fill it out, send us a message or text 765-977-7792! The application is in the comments of this post.

Please take a moment today to celebrate Juneteenth with us. This day is about freedom, reflection, and community. It's also a meaningful day in Townsend's own history.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day word finally reached Galveston, Texas that all enslaved people were free. The Emancipation Proclamation had technically taken effect more than two years earlier, on January 1, 1863, but that freedom was delayed for over 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas until that day. It became a federal holiday in 2021, but this day has carried meaning in our community for far longer than that.

It's a special day for Townsend, too. On June 17, 2021, the Wayne County Commissioners signed a proclamation declaring June 19, 2021, as Townsend Community Center, Inc. Day.

Because freedom isn't just something that happened a long time ago, it's something we live out together. You see it in the people who walk through our doors, in the connections made here, in the sense that this is a place where everyone belongs. That's the work The Center has always been about, and it's the spirit we carry forward every day.

Welcome to the 2026 Townsend Community Center, Inc. Summer Academy! ☀️🎉

We’re having an amazing time with so many fun activities already underway!!! From Golf Camp to a special visit from Tina the Miniature Horse and Jess from Brighter Path, Inc., our children are making wonderful memories and having a blast!!!

There’s never a dull moment at Summer Academy — even our staff is getting in on the fun!!! Shoutout to Ms. Ramona, Ms. Dedra, and Ms. Amanda for bringing laughter and excitement with their hilarious Silly String antics!!! 💚📸 This special moment was dedicated to Ms. Adria, who is currently at home recovering from knee replacement surgery. We miss her and are keeping her in our thoughts!!!

The children who participate in our programming are absolutely wonderful, and it is a blessing to be in their lives. Thank you to all the parents, families, and guardians who support these kids and connect them to opportunities that help shape their future!
