While Course 1 establishes a personal ethical foundation, Ethics in GovernanceโCourse 2 applies that foundation to professional and regulatory responsibilities, including:
The VCB State-Certified Doula Code of Ethics
Virginia law and mandatory reporter status
Accountability systems and peer-reporting obligations
Professional boundaries and dual relationships
Cultural humility as a regulatory obligation
Ethical decision-making in complex situations
Client-centered documentation standards
By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to:
โ
Apply all three sections of the VCB Code of Ethics to real-life situations
โ
Explain mandatory reporter status under Virginia Code ยง63.2-1509
โ
Address dual relationships and community-based boundary challenges
โ
Use the VCB nine-step ethical decision-making framework
โ
Create documentation that centers dignity and withstands ethical review
โ
Fulfill peer-accountability obligations, including the required 90-day reporting window
This course approaches the Code of Ethics as a tool for justice, accountability, and professional integrityโnot simply a bureaucratic checklist. Participants will leave better equipped to make clear, defensible ethical decisions under real-world pressure.
