Ethics in Governance: Focus on Maternal Health

Join us for a five-hour virtual regulatory ethics training designed for Virginia State-Certified Doulas.

While Course 1 establishes a personal ethical foundation, Ethics in Governance—Course 2 applies that foundation to professional and regulatory responsibilities, including:

The VCB State-Certified Doula Code of Ethics
Virginia law and mandatory reporter status
Accountability systems and peer-reporting obligations
Professional boundaries and dual relationships
Cultural humility as a regulatory obligation
Ethical decision-making in complex situations
Client-centered documentation standards

By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to:

✅ Apply all three sections of the VCB Code of Ethics to real-life situations
✅ Explain mandatory reporter status under Virginia Code §63.2-1509
✅ Address dual relationships and community-based boundary challenges
✅ Use the VCB nine-step ethical decision-making framework
✅ Create documentation that centers dignity and withstands ethical review
✅ Fulfill peer-accountability obligations, including the required 90-day reporting window

This course approaches the Code of Ethics as a tool for justice, accountability, and professional integrity—not simply a bureaucratic checklist. Participants will leave better equipped to make clear, defensible ethical decisions under real-world pressure.

What an amazing day in Lynchburg, Virginia! 💜 We traveled through the beautiful Shenandoah Valley to attend the Champions of Community Conference, where we had the opportunity to connect, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations centered around Community Health Workers.

A heartfelt thank you to Kimberly Dyke-Harsley, the planning committee, leadership team, and everyone who made this experience possible. Thank you for welcoming us and creating such an incredible space for CHWs and community partners.

We were also inspired by Dr. Webb’s words, his life of service, and his continued support of Community Health Workers. It was especially meaningful to have him step inside our CHW Connector and experience the vision for how this initiative can show up and make an impact in communities across Virginia. 🚐💜
