Warriors of Christ Program
Mission Statement
Purpose
The Warriors of Christ program exists to expand opportunities for foster children and their parents to establish a closer relationship with God. By providing God-centered opportunities through nature coordinated by seasoned Christians, this program can support the further development of personal faith. Values
The values of Warri
ors of Christ are important to Christian development. They include honesty, boldness, freedom, trust, team-spirit, modesty, and responsibility. By building an appreciation of God’s glory, opportunities in the natural environment can provide mindfulness of God’s presence. While these experiences alone will not teach everything needed to know about Him, the support of trained volunteers who are seasoned Christians can use the environment to help participants envision a richer Christian life. Embedding Christian support and teaching into experiences in natural settings can strengthen participants’ connections to increasing faith and knowledge of God. Goals
The goals of the Warriors of Christ program include:
1. Reaching out to orphans, widows, foster children, and recently adopted children and their adoptive families, with a particular emphasis on male parenting;
2. Providing a fun and learning environment that focuses on teaching basic life skills and activities to support the development of these skills as well as activities to build team-spirit within family structures and lessen the stress on the members of these families;
3. Providing through interaction with trained volunteers who are role models life learning on the values of being honest, being bold for Christ-centered beliefs, the linkage between freedom and responsibility, the importance of developing trust of specific others, and the gifts of modesty and humility; and,
4. Recruiting and training seasoned Christian volunteers in methods for reaching out to vulnerable individuals and families to teach them to support and model the development of God-centered living.
