Hendrickson Foundation

Hendrickson Foundation Hockey is for everyone. We build community and grow the game. EIN: 45-2880118 Our focus is to make hockey accessible for ALL who want to play the game.

The Hendrickson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit breaking barriers so people with disabilities and veterans can play, connect, and thrive. By supporting adaptive and Warrior hockey programs’ growth and participation nationwide, we aim to break barriers and promote inclusivity in the game. Hockey challenges and develops players as individuals and athletes; it promotes physical and mental health,

as well as sportsmanship, camaraderie, self-confidence and a sense of belonging. For many of these athletes, this is the end of retreating inward and the beginning of reaching out socially to participate, create relationships and have fun! The spark plug behind the HF scenes: Jay Faber

Behind every HF event is someone keeping the team laughing. For us, that’s Jay.

Jay has a pocket full of jokes, a quick comeback for just about everything, and enough positive energy to carry an entire weekend. He’s the first one to crack a joke, the last one to take himself too seriously, and somehow manages to make every event a little more fun.

Need proof?

When we asked Jay to pick his walk-up song, this smart aleck chose “Lonesome Loser.” 😂

His choice—not ours. Who are we to say no?

Based in Maple Grove, Jay and his family found HF through his daughter, Paige, who’s a star player for the MN Special Hockey program. What started as a personal connection quickly became a family commitment, and today Jay is one of those people who is making things happen.

He’s rarely standing still. If something needs to be packed, loaded, moved, lifted, set up, or torn down, Jay is already on it. He jumps in wherever he’s needed, always with a smile, always with a positive attitude, and usually another joke ready to go.

To Jay, Hockey Changes Lives® means camaraderie and confidence—the kind that grows when people find their place on a team. That’s what fuels his work helping build awareness, strengthen partnerships, and support the continued growth of adaptive hockey.

As our programs continue to grow, Jay believes it’s more important than ever that we continue showing up for the athletes and families who count on this community.

Favorite HF memory: Every event.
Festival fuel: Black iced coffee ☕
HF hockey position: Fourth-line winger
Hidden talent: Supermodel. (Also according to Jay. 😄)

When asked why he keeps coming back, his answer was simple:

“HF is a great group of people who really care about the athletes.”

We couldn’t agree more.

Thanks for bringing the laughs, the positivity, and the kind of energy that makes everyone around you smile. Team HF is a whole lot more fun with you in the mix. 💙

The crowd has gone home. But the story is just getting started. 💙🏒

Thanks to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, athlete, and supporter who made our Hockey Festival possible, we’re proud to continue investing in Minnesota Deaf & Hard of Hearing Hockey.

Hockey has always had its own language. It’s found in a tap on the shin pads. A nod across the bench. A celebration after a goal. A teammate who always knows you’ve got their back.

This grant helps provide ice time, equipment, travel, coaching, interpreters, and opportunities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing athletes to continue playing the game they love while growing a community where everyone belongs.

This moment represents something much bigger than a check. It represents a community that believes every athlete deserves the opportunity to compete, connect, and thrive.

Because of you, the mission didn’t end after the Festival weekend. It continues every practice, every game, every road trip, and every new athlete welcomed into this incredible hockey family.

Thank you for believing in HF and adaptive hockey. Thank you for believing that Hockey Changes Lives.💙🏒

A special thank you to Pagel Family Foundation, Minnesota Air, Inc., Minnesota Hockey, Wells Fargo, Supply Chain Solutions Corp and Sand Law — our generous Festival partners who helped make opportunities like this possible.🙏

There are some decisions that break your heart, even when you know they're the right ones.

Today is one of those days.

With the Boundary Waters wildfires continuing to burn, evacuation zones expanding, hazardous air quality shifts, and rapidly changing fire conditions, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel this year's Boundary Waters Sled Hockey Combine.

Nothing about this decision was easy.

Next week was supposed to be filled with paddles through quiet water, campfires, laughter, new friendships, and unforgettable moments that change lives. Instead, our thoughts are with the people who call this sacred place home and the firefighters working around the clock to protect it.

Our friends where we lodge during the combine— Veterans On The Lake Resort, have transformed the resort into a place of service—opening their lodging to firefighters, preparing meals from their kitchen, and collecting critical supplies for those on the front lines.

Our incredible Boundary Waters guides at Cast Outdoors, who have become family to us over the past nine years, have seen their summer season come to a halt with no reopening in sight. With every entry point into the Boundary Waters closed, they've lost the work they count on this time of year while also preparing to relocate their entire sled dog kennel to safety—a monumental undertaking during an already unimaginable time.

Across the region, thousands of firefighters and support personnel continue battling these unprecedented fires under incredibly difficult conditions. Their courage is nothing short of extraordinary.

The Boundary Waters land and community has given so much to the athletes over the years.

Right now, it's our turn to give back.

If you're able, please consider supporting those who are carrying this community through this crisis. Support Veterans on the Lake Resort as they continue supporting the firefighters. Support Cast Outdoors whose livelihoods have been put on hold. Support the surrounding community through donations, wishlists, local businesses, or any other way you can. We'll share a links with ways to help below.

Most importantly, please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers—the families who have been displaced, the businesses facing an uncertain future, the communities that are hurting, and every firefighter, pilot, first responder, volunteer, and neighbor doing whatever they can to help.

To our Boundary Waters family: we're with you.

We'll miss this year's Combine more than words can express. But this isn't goodbye.

We'll be back next year, and when we return, we'll celebrate this remarkable place and the resilient people who make it so special.

Until then, our hearts are in the Boundary Waters.🌲🤎

Our Minnesota Blind Hockey players and families had an amazing weekend at the Blind Hockey Windy City Showdown hosted by The Dented Puck Foundation.

We cannot do these tournaments without the incredible support from Hendrickson Foundation who helps make these opportunities possible! Thank you so much for all you do!

A big shout out to Twin Cities Sled Hockey for borrowing us their trailer to transport all of the equipment from Minnesota to Illinois!

The medals have been handed out. But the best moments are still ahead. 💚🏒

One incredible Festival weekend has turned into another season of opportunity. We’re proud to present this grant to Minnesota Special Hockey, helping provide ice time, equipment, coaching, travel, tournaments, and unforgettable experiences for hundreds of athletes across our state.

Special Hockey has never been about the scoreboard.

It’s about the first goal. The biggest smile. The teammate who becomes your best friend. The confidence that grows with every practice. The families who find a place where everyone is celebrated exactly as they are.

This check represents every sponsor who believed. Every volunteer who showed up. Every donor who gave. Every athlete who reminded us why this mission matters.
Because of you, hundreds of athletes will continue to experience the joy, friendships, confidence, and sense of belonging that hockey makes possible.

Thank you for believing in HF. Thank you for believing in Special hockey. Thank you for helping create more moments worth celebrating. Thank you for proving, once again, that Hockey Changes Lives. 💙🏒

A special thank you to Partners In Excellence, Tradition Companies, Nelson-Jameson, Inc., M3 Insurance, Cambria, CambriaCares and C**n Rapids Youth Hockey Association (CRYHA) — our incredible Festival partners for making moments and opportunities like these possible.

One incredible weekend = one year of impact.

When the final festival buzzer sounds and the banners come down, the mission doesn’t stop. In many ways, it’s just getting started.

We’re proud to present this grant to Twin Cities Sled Hockey, helping provide ice time, equipment, travel, competition, and opportunities for athletes to continue playing the game they love.

Most people see the sled.

We see the speed, power, grit and skill. The teammates who become family. The confidence that’s built one push at a time. The athlete who discovers a sport they never knew existed. The family that finds a community they didn’t know they needed.

This check may carry the Hendrickson Foundation logo, but it represents something much bigger. Every sponsor, donor, volunteer and supporter who believes in this mission helped make this moment possible.

Because of you, the impact doesn’t end after one weekend. It continues all year long.

Thank you for believing in HF. Thank you for believing in adaptive hockey. And thank you for helping us prove, year after year, that Hockey Changes Lives. 💙🏒

A special thank you to Complete Filtration Resources Inc. The Humble Goat, WOW Logistics, WOW-WE CARE CHARITY, Genius Gourmet and Foremost Farms USA — our incredible Festival partners for helping make moments and opportunities like this possible.

Golf. Hockey people. Good causes. Questionable swings.

What could possibly go wrong? 😎🏌️‍♂️

The Hendrickson Foundation Golf Festival on August 19th is nearly SOLD OUT, and the remaining sponsor-to-play groups won’t last long.

This isn’t just a day on the course. It’s a chance to invest in adaptive and Warrior hockey while spending the day with the athletes, families, and programs your support helps make possible.

Come for the golf. Stay for the stories, the laughs, the athlete interactions, the mission moments… and one of the most fun days of the summer.

Because at HF, our sponsors aren’t just names on a sign. They’re part of the team.

Grab your foursome. Join the mission. We’ll see you on the tee box. 💙🏒
