Hendrickson Foundation

Hendrickson Foundation Hockey is for everyone. We build community and grow the game. EIN: 45-2880118 Our focus is to make hockey accessible for ALL who want to play the game.

The Hendrickson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit breaking barriers so people with disabilities and veterans can play, connect, and thrive. By supporting adaptive and Warrior hockey programs’ growth and participation nationwide, we aim to break barriers and promote inclusivity in the game. Hockey challenges and develops players as individuals and athletes; it promotes physical and mental health,

as well as sportsmanship, camaraderie, self-confidence and a sense of belonging. For many of these athletes, this is the end of retreating inward and the beginning of reaching out socially to participate, create relationships and have fun! The team photos are starting to roll out! 📸🏒We know many of you are excited to find your squad.

Before anyone sends us a strongly worded message asking where their team is…. 😅

Hang tight. We haven't lost them in the penalty box. We're still waiting on one final batch of photos from a photographer and will continue filling in the missing pieces as they arrive.

Thanks for bearing with us as we work through thousands of photos from one heck of a Festival weekend.

More teams. More smiles. More hockey goodness coming soon. 💙

Eight years later, we’re still talking about Larry every day.

Not because we have to. Because his fingerprints are everywhere.

They’re in the athlete who discovers they belong. In the veteran who finds camaraderie. In the volunteer who keeps showing up. In the parent who realizes they’re not alone. In the relationship’s built through hockey and the lives changed because someone cared enough to create an opportunity.

Larry believed every person mattered. Not some people. Not just the star players. Everyone.

He believed every person deserved to feel seen, valued, respected, and important. That simple belief became the foundation of everything we do.

Today, thousands of athletes, families, volunteers, coaches, and supporters later, we’re reminded that the greatest legacies aren’t measured by what someone leaves behind. They’re measured by what continues to grow because they were here.

The Hendrickson Foundation carries Larry’s name, but more importantly, we carry his values.

And eight years later, we still see his impact every single day. We will never forget. And we’ll always be grateful for the idea he had, the mission he started, the example he set and the movement that continues to grow.

Festival weekend may be over, but the HF Shop is officially back open. 😮‍💨🏒

And have you SEEN the hat game lately?

Cord hats. Patch hats. Dog hats. Performance hats. Embroidered hats. Vintage hats. Basically a lid for every hockey personality.

The inventory is loaded. The hats are good. Like... really good.

Go take a peek. We dare you to leave without a new favorite hat.

There are people who come into your orbit and leave things better than they found them.

Scott Gerlicher was one of those people.

Long before there were checks to hold for photos or events to celebrate, Scott believed in what we were trying to accomplish. He connected people, brought organizations together, and helped create opportunities that continue to impact families today.

But if you knew Scott, you know that wasn't really what made him special. What made Scott special was the way he showed up.

He brought energy to every room (usually with a playlist) enthusiasm to every project, and had a knack for turning a conversation into an idea and an idea into action. He was the kind of person who made things happen, but somehow never made it about himself.

The photo here captures one small piece of Scott's impact on our organization. The real impact is harder to photograph. It's found in the relationships he built, the people he connected, and the opportunities he helped create for others.

Scott spent a lifetime serving others. Whether through his leadership with the Minneapolis Police Department and the Excelsior Morning Rotary Club, his volunteerism, or his involvement in organizations that strengthened our community, he was always willing to roll up his sleeves and help. He believed in people, believed in community, and believed that when good people come together, great things can happen.

Our hearts are with Cari, Hannah, Emma, Molly, and everyone who loved him.

For those who knew Scott, a celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 12, from 3:00–7:00 PM at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach, with a presentation at 5:30 PM.

Scott, thank you for believing in this mission, for helping us build something meaningful, and for making our community stronger simply by being part of it.

You will be deeply missed. 💙🏒

If smiles counted on the scoreboard, these athletes would be undefeated. 💛🏒🌞

That’s the magic of Special Hockey.

This year, more than 300 athletes from MN Special Hockey joined us at the HF Hockey Festival, bringing enough joy, energy, enthusiasm, and heart to light up every corner of the rink.

The goals are great. The hockey is awesome. But these smiles? These smiles are everything.

Thank you to every athlete, family, coach, volunteer, and supporter who makes this community SO special.

Pure joy lives here. 💙

Some jerseys represent a team.

These jerseys represented love. 💗🏒

At the 10th Annual HF Hockey Festival, the St. Cloud Warriors took the ice in pink jerseys in honor and memory of Maddie Hadfield, a beloved member of our hockey family whose passing this summer left a hole in the hearts of so many.

Maddie was a bright light. She brought joy, kindness, and warmth wherever she went. Whether she was attending an HF event, supporting her brother at MN Blind Hockey, or simply spending time with the people she loved, she had a way of making every room feel a little brighter.

As the daughter of one of diversified hockey most passionate family’s and advocates, Maddie grew up surrounded by this community. And this community loved her right back.

The St. Cloud Warriors took the lead, and many of Maddie’s friends and fans throughout the hockey community brought out their pink and rocked their Maddie stickers. 💗

It was a beautiful reminder that hockey is about so much more than the game.

It’s about showing up for one another.

It’s about carrying each other through difficult times.

It’s about honoring those we love and making sure they are never forgotten.

That’s what this hockey family does. We show up for each other. In the good times and the hard times. On and off the ice. Always.💙🏒💗

This day, we wore pink for Maddie.💗

Hockey Changes Lives!

Two Minnesota children just wanted to play on a hockey team like their older brother. But there was an issue. Both were born blind. In this Home Town, Mike Max explains how their parents stepped in and created a team.

Champions were crowned. 🏆🏒

But the trophies only tell part of the story.

Behind every championship photo is a season of hard work, teammates who became family, coaches who gave their time, families who showed up, and athletes who refused to quit.

This weekend we celebrated victories, accomplishments, and unforgettable moments across every discipline.

Congratulations to all of our champions and participants. We are proud of every athlete who stepped onto the ice and represented their team, their community, and this incredible game.

Here’s to the memories, the hardware, and the stories that will be told for years to come. 💙
