Namaste,
On April 1st, Hindu YUVA at UT Dallas held a joyous Hindu New Year event, with over 200 people in attendance. The celebration was centered around an exhibition of the newly-released Darshana posters, which offered the campus community a glimpse into various aspects of Hindu Dharma as well as into Indic contributions to society. Hindu YUVA was honored to have a lively demonstration of traditional Tamil percussion, "Parai," and dance by members of Metroplex Tamil Sangam. In addition, the event featured an energetic performance of Marathi folk percussion by the talented Shivam Dhol Tasha Pathak of Dallas. The event concluded with the opening up of the dance floor, where students enjoyed dancing to bhangra and garba music. Overall, everyone had a memorable time celebrating Hindu New Year together and the Hindu YUVA chapter looks forward to celebrating more occasions with the broader campus community in the future.

Southwest Hindu YUVA Presents, “Dharmic Politics - A discourse on American politics by Hindu youth” on this upcoming Sunday, February 20th at 8PM CST!

Can we view contemporary politics in America from a Dharmic perspective?

In light of the midterm elections coming up later this year, Hindu YUVA wishes to raise awareness among young Hindu Americans regarding the importance of voting. As a part of this, Southwest Hindu YUVA is hosting a discussion with Hindu American college students about how they see their Hindu worldview fit into today's politics. The purpose behind this panel is to encourage young students to reflect on how their understanding of Hindu Dharma shapes their personal political beliefs.

Our panelists for this discussion will be Bharat Nair from UT Dallas, Advaita Chaudhari from Dartmouth, and Shaunak Dabir from Texas A&M. This session will be moderated by Saket Puri, a master's student pursuing political science at UT Dallas. Tune in LIVE to the Hindu YUVA YouTube (https://youtu.be/TMwTJmLajOA) and Facebook (https://fb.me/e/2h7WmFGn2) channels to watch this engaging and insightful discussion.
