Reston Triathlon For 36 years, the Reston Triathlon event has served as a staple in the Reston community.

This olympic distance triathlon based in Reston has been an integral event in the Reston community for since 1984. During COVID-19 the previous group running the event worked tirelessly to keep the tradition alive but sadly announced in 2021 that they could no longer financially and logistically sustain the triathlon. Working closely with the previous Board, the CORE Foundation is thrilled to revive this event and continue the legacy of the Reston Triathlon. The Reston Triathlon will make its comeback debut on September 10, 2023 and annually going forward on the first Sunday following Labor Day. The Reston Triathlon opens with a 1500m open water swim in Lake Audubon and is followed by a 25 mile bike and a 10k run on Reston paths. CORE Foundation is grateful for the overwhelming support received while pursuing the opportunity to revive this community tradition for 2023. We believe that the addition of this event will create a stepping stone for our athletes as they expand their personal goals. Please also consider our other multi-sport events: The Reston Sprint Triathlon and the The Reston Superhero Youth Triathlon. For those that have volunteered for the Reston Youth Triathlon in the past, thank you. It’s an incredible event as we watch almost 200 young athletes navigate the pool of Ridge Heights, the roads near South Lakes High School and the Reston Association paths. It’s that time of year again and as always, we could use your help. Please take a moment to look at the sign up sheet and if inspired, please share with your friends. Thank you!
