Last month, the students at McKnight Middle School, under the guidance of Drama Club teacher Saralyn Stroup, delivered a fantastic performance of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Here are a few photos from one of the rehearsals. The foundation is committed to enhancing opportunities for students, and supporting drama clubs in all secondary schools is one way your contributions make a difference!

When our students and families face unexpected challenges, the Principal Emergency Fund helps us step in, making sure every child has what they need to thrive at school. The family of a student managing Type 1 Diabetes was going through financial hardship, unable to reliably provide medically necessary supplies such as juice boxes, glucose tablets, or fruit snacks. The Principal Emergency Fund was used to maintain a steady supply of appropriate items at school, coordinated with the school nurse, so the student could participate safely and fully in every part of the school day.

From Talbot Hill Elementary Principal Lautman:
“We are incredibly grateful for the Foundation’s support in expanding our Spanish library for the Dual Language program at Talbot Hill Elementary. This investment has made a meaningful difference for our students by increasing access to high-quality, engaging, and culturally relevant Spanish texts. A strong library is at the heart of a thriving school community, and this expansion of Spanish texts for our Dual Language program helps ensure that all students see themselves reflected in the stories they read while also discovering new perspectives.”

The Renton Schools Foundation recently visited Dimmitt Middle School to see donations in action, particularly the use of 3D printers.

During the visit, Ms. Kendall helped 6th-grade student William choose an item to print using TinkerCAD, with the requirement that he modify the design. As the 3D printer began working on William’s creation—a “dragon with sunglasses”—he shared that his favorite subjects are Math and Science. He looks forward to exploring more classes in these subjects and wants to own his own 3D printer!

The foundation is excited to announce a “Goal Achieved!” Exactly one year ago, we assisted the Renton High School Band, directed by Jackson Bores, in raising funds for new band uniforms. On Tuesday, the students showcased these uniforms during a send-off celebration for the student athletes heading to state!

When our students and families face unexpected challenges, the Principal Emergency Fund helps us step in, making sure every child has what they need to thrive at school. Recently this fund helped a family facing eviction, and covered a short-term hotel stay, giving the family a safe place to sleep while school staff connected them with social services.
