The future is bright because of young hearts like Virginia's.

This Fourth of July, while many kids were enjoying the holiday, a remarkable young lady named Virginia and her friends had a different mission in mind. They set up a lemonade stand with one goal: to donate every penny they earned to help our nation's Veterans.

As fate would have it, the very last customer to stop by for a glass of lemonade worked at the VA and suggested that their donation be made to Horsemanship for Heroes.

A short time later, we received a notification on our donation platform...

$800.00.

We were absolutely blown away.

We invited Virginia and her family to the barn so we could thank her in person and show her exactly who she was helping. During her visit, she met our incredible herd, climbed into the saddle, and enjoyed a ride on our gentle Gypsy Vanner, Shahan. To commemorate the day, we proudly presented her with an official Horsemanship for Heroes ball cap.

Virginia, your kindness, compassion, and patriotism remind us that making a difference has nothing to do with age; it has everything to do with heart. Thank you to you and your amazing friends for believing in our mission and for helping us continue Helping Heroes Heal Through the Power of the Human-Horse Bond.

There are moments that remind us just how incredibly blessed we are… and today was one of them.

With only a couple of days’ notice, our amazing H4H Volunteer Herd showed up ready to work, laugh, and make a difference. Together, we stained the fence posts that will soon become our one-acre turnout pasture - a place where our horses will be able to roam, relax, and simply enjoy being horses.

The day was filled with smiles, laughter, white stain on faces, hands, clothes (and probably places we’ll discover tomorrow!), and the kind of camaraderie that is hard to put into words. It’s more than volunteering: it’s family.

A very special thank you to Dwight, Bob, Brett, and Rob, who didn’t call it a day when the staining was finished. They rolled right into tackling water hydrology challenges around the property and then took on the Herculean task of cleaning up the entire side of the barn, hauling years of broken and unwanted materials into the 40-yard dumpster that arrived yesterday. Your hard work has made an enormous difference and moved us one giant step closer to making our new home everything it can be.

To every volunteer who gave your time, your energy, your laughter, and your heart - thank you. Horsemanship for Heroes simply would not exist without you. You are building far more than fences; you’re building a place where veterans, emergency responders, and their families can heal through the power of the human-horse bond.

Our future is looking brighter every day… because of all of you.

Happy Birthday, America!

What an incredible way to begin our Independence Day!

This morning, Horsemanship for Heroes had the tremendous honor of serving as the Color Guard at the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza at Sparks Marina, proudly carrying our nation’s flag alongside the America 250 Anniversary Flag. We are deeply grateful for the invitation to be part of such a meaningful ceremony honoring those who have served our country.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our amazing H4H volunteers who showed up bright and early to support the event. From sharing our mission with community members to helping keep spectators safely clear of some very big horse feet, you represented Horsemanship for Heroes with professionalism, kindness, and servant hearts. We simply couldn’t do it without you.

Scott and Dwight did a phenomenal job aboard Shahan and Latte, carrying the colors with pride and dignity. We are so proud to represent our veteran community and to continue our mission of Helping Heroes Heal Through the Power of the Human-Horse Bond.

God bless our veterans, God bless our volunteers, and God bless the United States of America.

Celebrate Independence Day with Horsemanship for Heroes!

Start your Fourth of July with a little patriotism - and a lot of horse power!

Join us at the Sparks Marina Veterans Memorial at 8:00 a.m. as Horsemanship for Heroes proudly serves as the Mounted Color Guard for the Independence Day ceremony.

Scott and Dwight will be riding Shahan and Latte, carrying the United States Flag and the 250th Anniversary Flag as we honor our nation, our veterans, and all who have served.

It's going to be a warm holiday weekend, so this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate early before the heat of the day. We'd love to see our H4H family, friends, and supporters there to help us celebrate America's birthday!

Come cheer on our horses, our riders, and the incredible community that makes Helping Heroes Heal Through the Power of the Human-Horse Bond possible.

We are blessed with the most AMAZING volunteers! 💙

A huge thank you to Gary and Dwight for their incredible hard work getting our tack room move-in ready and installing fans in the stalls at our new Bonde Lane home. In this summer heat, that extra airflow will make a world of difference for our horses’ comfort and well-being.

Your dedication, generosity, and willingness to jump in wherever needed continue to amaze us. We simply could not do what we do without volunteers like you.

Celebrating Our Incredible H4H Volunteer Herd!

Last Saturday, we had the privilege of gathering to celebrate the amazing volunteers who make Horsemanship for Heroes possible. Simply put, we could not do this program without you.

From Horse Leading and supporting participants to helping at outreach events, fundraising activities, and everything in between, our volunteers are the heart of H4H. We are deeply grateful for every hour, every act of kindness, and every ounce of dedication you bring to our mission.

A special thank you to Linda Wolff, our Volunteer Coordinator, for organizing such a wonderful event and for the countless hours she invests in supporting our volunteer team. Thank you as well to all of the volunteers who helped with setup and teardown, and to Brett and Mike for keeping everyone well-fed with delicious burgers and hot dogs hot off the grill!

WE’RE HOME!!!

After months of planning, preparation, and countless volunteer hours, Horsemanship for Heroes has officially relocated to our new home at 6505 Bonde Lane.

This move represents far more than a change of address. It represents expanded opportunities to serve veterans, emergency responders, and their families through the power of the human-horse bond.

From loading trailers and moving equipment to preparing stalls and helping horses settle into their new surroundings, our volunteers showed up in force and reminded us once again what makes the H4H herd so special.

To every person who carried a box, swung a hammer, hauled a panel, drove a trailer, or simply showed up with a smile and a gallon of good attitude - thank you.

The future is so bright.

On Wednesday night, we were absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude as we accepted a check for $96,500 from Mark IV Capital as the designated beneficiary for the proceeds from this year’s Victory Loop. ❤️🐴🇺🇸

To the entire Mark IV Capital team, the Victory Loop organizers, sponsors, and every member of our community who participated - thank you. Your belief in our mission is changing lives.

To our team who travelled out to Yerington: Shahan, Growler, Linda, Brett, Amy, Jen, and Andrew - you’re the best!!

This incredible support is making our move to our new facility a reality. These funds will help us prepare the space for the Heroes we serve by:

✨ Getting the stalls ready to receive our horses
✨ Building safe fencing for turnout areas
✨ Upgrading facility lighting
✨ Improving infrastructure and safety throughout the property

What an incredible day with the Optimist Club of Reno!

A huge thank you to the Optimist Club for hosting such a fantastic golf tournament and for welcoming Horsemanship for Heroes to be part of the fun. Latte was an absolute superstar today—a rare sight on a golf course! She thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone, posing for photos (especially with Miss Reno Rodeo), and even helping “mow” the grass along the way.

We are especially grateful to our amazing volunteers who helped make the day such a success: Jen, Andrew, Amy, Dana, Kristin, Tawnee, Rob, Doreen, Linda, and Brett. Scott and I appreciate each of you more than words can express. Your dedication and willingness to share our mission with the community make all the difference.

Thank you as well to the wonderful members of the Optimist Club of Reno and the many incredible people we met throughout the day at Hole #16. We loved sharing stories about the healing power of the human-horse bond and introducing so many new friends to Horsemanship for Heroes.

A special thank you to the family of Ray Pezonella. It was truly an honor to meet you and learn more about your father’s legacy. We are grateful to have shared in celebrating his impact and the values he championed.
