The average age of an MD is 40 years old. The 35 and up age group is steady. The goal is to raise 13-34-year-old participants. 24 and under is a small number; any ideas how to hook them? Maybe they are too busy? If you are 24 and under, comment on why you engaged in the craft. I had a good bit of electronics in middle school. CB. Now 3 years a ham. For the electronics theory, repair, building homebrew, and adding current in-demand skills- AI, RC, and electronics sensors.

The host site of our hamfest expo, https://www.uppercovfc.org/ has other activities all through the year. JAMS: demolition derby, Yule Time Village in December.

Ready to start your journey? Mine has been interesting for over 3 years. There have been many failures; that is how I learn. RF is not easy. Why do only a few play the game? Physics. A thing of beauty.

Adults- let your kids and grandkids know that the opportunity to learn is in their hands. Self-paced and free for under 18.

We use RF to combine with RC, Robotics. We are about technology, not talking- aka rag chew.

Why one should get the tech license in the next 6 months. Solar dictates the 10-meter band, and the tech license includes some 10 M. HF.

Current Status (2024–2026): We are in the peak phase. The band is highly active, allowing for long-distance, worldwide contacts even with low power.

The Decline (2027–2029): Solar flux levels will drop. The ionosphere will lose the heavy ionization required to bounce 10-meter radio waves, leading to fewer DX openings and more "dead" days.

The Minimum (2030–2031): The sun's magnetic field calms, and the 10-meter band will primarily act as a local, ground-wave band with very few international skip opportunities. DX does open up, but not as much.
