200 children and adults in Gaza need urgent and constant access to the food essential to managing their condition.
For these patients, food is not simply a matter of hunger. It is a matter of managing a serious metabolic condition. They depend on carefully selected, low-protein foods, yet soaring prices and lost household incomes are pushing these essentials beyond the reach of many families. Parents are struggling to provide what their loved ones need, through no fault of their own.
Our goal is to provide these essential food parcels twice a month, ensuring families receive consistent support.

Recently, Rebuilding Alliance's team in Gaza delivered 200 specialized food parcels, including fresh vegetables and fruits that help support the strict diets and nutritional needs of PKU patients.
With food prices remaining high and many families unable to afford the foods their loved ones need, these parcels provide critical support. Families are counting on the next delivery.

“Look beyond the headlines and listen to people from Gaza directly.”
During Rebuilding Alliance’s 10th Annual “I Care About Peace” Congressional Briefing, 19-year-old Roaa spoke from Gaza about education, creativity, youth leadership, and her determination to continue building a future despite everything around her.

A dentistry student with a passion for languages, writing, music, and connecting people across cultures, Roaa also founded a language and cultural community in Gaza, creating a space for young people to practice languages, exchange ideas, and build confidence in their voices.

For Roaa, peace is more than the absence of conflict. It means being able to learn, develop your talents, connect with others, express your ideas, and make plans for your future without constantly questioning whether those plans will be possible.

Her message to the world was clear: Gaza is not only a place described through conflict. It is home to students, artists, writers, researchers, families, and young people with ideas, ambitions, and futures they want the opportunity to build.

In honor of the International Peace Day we were honored to have Yazan, a 20-year-old student from Gaza, and a former YES exchange student who studied in Chicago, Yazan spoke about his hopes to continue his education and the challenges young people in Gaza face when opportunities exist beyond Gaza but they are unable to leave.
Yazan was diagnosed with high blood pressure and experienced problems with his heart. He noted that the lack of medical equipment and the unavailability of the medical care he requires in Gaza have made his situation more difficult.
In his appeal to the attendees, Yazan called for greater efforts to facilitate the travel of students from Gaza who have scholarships and educational opportunities abroad. He stressed that these students need the opportunity to continue their education, pursue their dreams, and eventually return home to contribute their knowledge and skills to rebuilding Gaza.

For families managing PKU, the need doesn’t end when a food parcel is delivered.
Children and adults with Phenylketonuria (PKU) depend on specialized low-protein foods as part of managing their condition. That means families need reliable access to the right foods—not once, but consistently.
Rebuilding Alliance’s team in Gaza has now completed 11 rounds of specialized PKU food parcel distributions, reaching families across Gaza.

19-year-old Ahmed from Susiya, Masafer Yatta, joined Rebuilding Alliance’s 10th Annual “I Care About Peace” Congressional Briefing to share his firsthand experience of the challenges facing Palestinian students and communities in the West Bank.
Ahmed is studying International Relations at Birzeit University and has traveled to the U.S. twice with Rebuilding Alliance—in 2018 and 2024—to speak directly with members of Congress about his community.
During the briefing, Ahmed spoke about the demolition orders threatening homes throughout his village of Susiya and what it is like to grow up under that constant uncertainty.
He also shared a frightening experience from his own home. One night, Ahmed woke to find Israeli soldiers inside his room, with a gun pointed at him.
For Ahmed, these experiences are part of the reality facing young people in Susiya. By sharing his story, he continues to bring the experiences of his community directly to Congress and call attention to the challenges they face.
