*the navy picture with the names is an example of what it looks like, his name will be added soon*

“The Forgotten Warrior Memorial was built as a tribute to all those veterans who have served and sacrificed their lives as a direct result of PTSD. This beautiful monument is located in scenic Channahon State Park and serves as a reminder that PTSD is a real wound acquired in war that needs to be treated long after returning home. The Veterans Administration tells us that 22 lives are lost every day due to PTSD from the trauma of war.”

Remembering Keagan Rashad Garrett
MA3 - US Navy
10/10/00 - 08/10/25

On August 10th, 2025 our world got a little dimmer when we lost our beloved family member, Keagan Rashad Garrett, 24, unexpectedly in Redmond, Oregon. He was born on October 10, 2000, in the town of Fairbanks, Alaska but grew up in Redmond when the family moved back to the states in 2002.

A proud graduate of Redmond High School’s Class of 2018, Keagan completed his studies a year early and immediately answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 2018 and served honorably for over four years before retiring from active duty in 2022. His time in the Navy reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to something greater than himself.

After completing his military service, Keagan settled back in Oregon with his young family where he himself said he wanted to raise his little family and share where his love was and show them his views. There, it was where he and his wife of 5 years purchased their first home—a milestone that brought him great pride. Never one to rest on his accomplishments, Keagan began working for the State of Oregon while simultaneously pursuing higher education. He even had recently earned his bachelor’s degree and had his sights on working to achieve his Master’s.

Keagan was a devoted husband and father whose world revolved around his family where he was private and protective of them. He was very much known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those he deeply cared about and held close. He is survived by his wife and their cherished children Ayden, Adalynn, and Matthew. His Mother Philamena White of Redmond and Father Jeff Bray of Michigan who deeply mourn the loss of their beloved son. Keagan’s sister Kendra and niece Aalia of Redmond with whom he held a special place in his heart and were able to share many joyful moments with him, even so that his niece looked up to him like a father figure, and they made many wonderful memories together. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Marjorie Prieto, of Redmond with whom he brought flowers to just because and leaves behind many, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family from as far as Michigan, Ohio, California, Idaho to South Carolina and Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his baby girl, Janelle Braylen, grandparents, aunts, cousins, and many loved ones who left this world too soon.

We find comfort in knowing Keagan found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing on quiet mornings, hitting the golf course when he could even though he would be the first to admit he wasn't that good at it, and especially loved spending quality time with those he loved most. His infectious smile and laugh lit up every room he entered. Known for helping others without hesitation, Keagan brought laughter through his quirky jokes or spontaneous dance moves that never failed to lift everyone's spirits. He lived a life marked by dedication, service, and deep love for his family and his lifelong buddies with whom he continued to stay in touch with well after high school, Erik Reenalda, and Devon Beal.
