Our goal is to provide food, shelter, vet care and love to abandoned dogs, surrenders and lost dogs in the Miami Dade County area. In 2005, Adela Luis started a non-profit organization called K-9 For Love Inc. She started by taking in owner surrenders and rescuing dogs from MDAS but soon after, the situation in the Homestead/Redlands area got out of hand when people started dumping their dogs so K
-9 for Love not only rescued dogs in death row but starting taking owner surrenders, stray dogs from the Redlands/Homestead and SW Miami area and other cases that required immediate attention such as pregnant dogs, abused dogs, etc. We currently have over 50+ dogs in our care and our goal is to find forever homes to the ones already rescued so we can keep rescuing more dogs in Miami-Dade County, especially in the Kendall, Redlands and Homestead area, where the need is BIG. Many of our dogs have been in their kennels ranging from a few months to a couple of years!. It is not often they get to leave...They need to leave this place soon! We are supported by a wonderful network of volunteers but we always need more help with bathing and providing appropriate socialization to the dogs, transporting them to and from events, meeting potential adopters, etc. We also are in need of funds to move our shelter....(see under NOTES the entire explanation). We cannot do this alone!! We need help with adoption events, medications for the dogs, funds for vet care, help with rescuing abandoned dogs and more. All our dogs receive appropriate vet care, vaccines, spay/neuter treatment and they are fully vetted by the time they are finally adopted.
