Catalyst Redding Young Professionals

Catalyst Redding Young Professionals Visit http://reddingcatalyst.com to learn more. What is Catalyst? Catalyst creates, promotes, and supports new and existing events and culture in Redding.

A collection of young professionals driven to improve Redding's greatness through promoting cultural energy, collaborative philanthropy, and enhancing the vibe of Redding. Catalyst Redding Young Professionals was created to provide a social network and environment to help build relationships and provide support for the next generation of Redding leaders. How is Catalyst organized? Catalyst Redding

Young Professionals is a registered 501(c)(3) organization with a board of directors overseeing the business end of things. However, to maintain accessibility, Catalyst does not collect dues, nor does it have attendance requirements. What kinds of events does Catalyst power? Catalyst members power all kinds of events around Redding as well as volunteer with other organizations to lend a hand. Some of the Catalyst powered events are: Banff Mountain Film Festival, Radical Reels, TEDxRedding, Redding Beer Week, etc. What else does Catalyst do? In addition to the Events listed above, members of Catalyst have formed a book club, recreation teams (soccer, basketball, and golf), ‘electives’ to share their hobbies/passions with each other, and organize various social events. How would you describe those who participate in Catalyst events? Those who participate in Catalyst are interesting and interested individuals who care deeply about the place in which they live; they are proactive about making Redding better, instead of just wishing it were. Catalyst members seek to entertain and educate themselves, and use these efforts as an opportunity to support the Redding community. Not all members are young nor do they have traditional professional occupations. Most are juggling their career, education, family, and other passions, often including regular, non-Catalyst volunteerism. How do I become a member? Join our Meet-up group at www.reddingcatalyst.com or like us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/reddingcatalyst) or just show-up at an event or meeting. How do I get more involved? Attending a Quarterly Social will give you a good sense of the people who make up Catalyst. You can also come to the Semi-Annual Business Meeting, where upcoming committee-driven events and other volunteer projects are discussed. If you are interested in forming a committee for a Catalyst-directed effort or event, ask the facilitators for a new committee form. When and where does Catalyst Meet? Catalyst meets semi-annually for business meetings at CR Gibbs from 5:30-6pm. Catalyst socials are held quarterly at local establishments around Redding. Follow the Catalyst page or Meetup page to be notified of our next gathering. How can my organization engage with Catalyst? Various organizations have approached the Catalyst network to recruit volunteers to help with events. The outreach to the Catalyst network usually happens one of two ways.

 The first way is we get the details of the event and list it on the business meeting agenda and as a volunteering opportunity on the calendar on our website www.reddingcatalyst.com.

 The second, (and usually more effective) is for a representative of the
organization needing volunteers, to come speak for 5 minutes at the beginning of one of the business meetings to talk about their organization. Built into the presentation there is typically an answer to the question, "How can Catalyst help?" Additionally, sign-up sheets are encouraged if volunteers are being recruited. The most effective organizations at tapping into the Catalyst network are those who already have a person embedded in the Catalyst network who can act as a liaison between a collection of volunteers and the organization. The other thing to note is, with few exceptions, individuals in the Catalyst network usually volunteer for one-time tasks as opposed to volunteering to help plan and organize non-Catalyst events. The interests and availabilities of Catalyst members vary greatly, so, as we don’t require dues or attendance, nor do we require members to volunteer with any ‘visiting’ organizations. How can I get on the agenda at a Catalyst Business Meeting to pitch my
organization? Email the facilitators at http://www.reddingcatalyst.com. Will Catalyst sponsor my event? Because Catalyst does not collect dues, the organization is not in a position to monetarily sponsor any events. Most events put on by Catalyst seek sponsorships from local businesses.
