Don’t know much about this camp, but it was shared with us as it in Berks County. Sharing in case this information is helpful for any parents of LGBTQ+ youth looking for something to do this summer.

On behalf of Reading Pride, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day. On this day we celebrate the act of expressing love to those that are most important to us. We also must remember that being able to proudly and publicly love who we want is the result of the efforts and sacrifices of those that came before us. As we face a daunting and uncertain future, those filled with fear and hate will try to attack our right to express our love and silence our collective voice. Now more than ever, this voice needs to be heard.

The current political climate is unashamedly hostile to our community and organizations like ours. As a result, much of the funding (grants, corporate donations, etc.) that we count on to fund our programming and operations has been cut or is unavailable. Therefore, we are counting on our community and its allies for our very existence. Our programs have allowed us to have a presence and voice and to openly celebrate who we love. When organizations like ours are forced to shut down, we are silenced and those who aim to take away our rights win.

In the face of the landscape that lies before us, we must have hope. Historically, our greatest victories have been won in the face of great oppression; strength comes from adversity. We can be strong together. We have been called upon to face adversity again. How will history remember Reading Pride?

We ask that you help us to be a voice against opposition and hate. Whether it is a financial contribution (no donation is too small) or volunteering some of your time. Together, we are a strong family and can do great things.

Happy National Freedom to Marry Day.

Same-sex couples began marrying in Pennsylvania in 2014 after U.S. District Court Judge John E. Jones III ruled in favor of the freedom to marry in a federal legal case challenging the state’s anti-marriage laws.

As Governor Shapiro says, "No matter who you marry, who you love, or who you are, you have a place here in PA."

Happy National Freedom to Marry Day!
