Raytown Ward 4 We are honored to serve the residents of Raytown's Fourth Ward. Please feel free to reach out to us.

As your Aldermen, we are conferred with the mandate of public service, carrying the weighty responsibility to represent the interests of you, our neighbors, while fostering growth, prosperity, and inclusivity within our community. Understanding what to expect from your elected officials is crucial for fostering transparency, accountability, and effective governance. So, what can you expect from us?
- Accessibility and Responsiveness: Whether addressing concerns about infrastructure, public safety, or local policies, we will do our best to be approachable and attentive listeners who advocate on your behalf at City Hall
- Transparency: We all have the right to be informed about the decisions being made on your behalf and why we cast a vote a certain way. Prioritizing open communication channels, public forums, and regular updates to ensure Ward 4 is well-informed and engaged in the decision-making process is our goal.
- Collaboration: We are neighbors, family, colleagues, and friends. Working together to get something done that cannot be done working alone can be a powerful antidote to addressing challenges and advancing community goals . This includes working across institutional boundaries to engage outside individuals and entities in a way that bears fruit in the form of better outcomes in the decision making process or delivery of services.
- Liaisons: We will effectively communicate the needs and priorities of our community to higher levels of government while also staying informed about broader policy initiatives that may impact us and our city.
- Vision for the Future: We will collaborate with residents, business community, City Staff, Board of Alderman and Mayor, and other individuals or entities to develop strategic plans and policies that promote sustainable development, economic growth, and the welfare of our residents. By fostering innovation and adaptability, we must strive to navigate the complexities of a changing world while safeguarding the unique identity and character of our city. Emails:

Sometimes local government gets viewed through the same lens as national politics. We understand why, but that lens doesn’t always give an accurate picture of what’s happening here in Raytown.

The compensation for serving as an alderman is modest, especially compared with the time and stress involved. Much of the work is pretty ordinary: fixing streets, maintaining police cars, funding services, and deciding how to stretch a limited budget across our community.

Those decisions matter. They affect our neighborhoods, our money, and our daily lives. They deserve scrutiny. But a disagreement over a city decision doesn’t automatically mean there’s a hidden agenda or a larger political scheme behind it. Sometimes people have different priorities, different information, or different ideas about what will work.

We’re neighbors. We shop at the same stores and drive over the same potholes. And we’re pretty easy to get ahold of.

If you’re wondering why either of us voted a certain way, ask us. If an upcoming issue matters to you, reach out before the vote. Send an email, call, or message us. You don’t need a formal invitation or a perfectly worded argument. You don’t have to agree with our answers, but you deserve an explanation—and we want to hear your perspective.

We’re glad people care enough to speak up, even when they’re frustrated. We can question decisions, expect accountability, and disagree without assuming the worst about each other. A direct conversation is often a much better place to start than a heated comment thread.

This is our community. Let’s put our shared concern for it to work.

On Thursday, we celebrated the ribbon cutting at Kenagy Park, and it felt good to see the progress completed. I’m grateful to Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II for securing $3 million dollars in federal funding that made these upgrades possible. His support helped open the ADA‑compliant trail, improve the restrooms, and upgrade the skatepark so more families can enjoy the park. Parks are important spaces for our community, and these improvements make Kenagy more accessible and more welcoming for everyone. I appreciate his commitment to our community and the work still ahead.
