The 23rd Annual Raytown Police Fund Charity Golf Tournament is coming up on Friday, September 25, at Shamrock Hills Golf Course.

☀️ EXTREME HEAT WARNING ☀️

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect beginning 12:00 PM Tuesday, August 11 through 8:00 PM Friday, August 14.

The National Weather Service is forecasting dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 108°F. This level of heat can significantly increase the risk of heat-related illness, especially with prolonged exposure.

Please take the heat seriously over the next several days. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible, limit time in the sun, and check on relatives, neighbors, older adults, and others who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat.

🐾 Don’t forget about pets. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and a cool place out of the heat.

🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a short period of time.

Once the sun starts getting lower, I’ll wander into the heart of Raytown, where echoes of another era will fill the evening air. Three masters of rhythm, strings, and six-string lightning will bring old classics back to life. Your job is to figure out where.

When evening arrives, I’ll be waiting somewhere friends gather beneath the open sky, right in the middle of the excitement.

And because this summer heat is no joke, I won’t be arriving empty-pawed. I’m bringing a tasty frozen surprise to share with my fellow sleuths! Serin has buckled up his tiny police vest and slipped away for another Saturday night mission! He’s tracking clues in the heart of town, and we need our best local detectives to crack the case.

"Put on your blue suede shoes, because things are about to get wild in downtown Raytown! I'm tracking a high-energy trio known for their crazy musical shenanigans and 1950s rockabilly beats. If you want to find me, look where a flat-pickin' machine, a drumming wild-man, and a giant upright bass take the stage! I’ll be balancing right in the center of the action where the community gathers for the ultimate summer concert. Can you decode my coordinates before another detective beats you to the scene?"

🐾 Meet Serin, Raytown’s favorite four-legged police canine. 💙

Thanks to our partnership with the Raytown Police Department, the Raytown Police Fund for Public Benefit is proud to bring the Serin Scavenger Hunt to our community each summer.

Serin may be a small plush pup in a police vest, but his adventures have a big purpose. Hidden throughout Raytown, Serin encourages families to explore local parks, landmarks, and community events while building positive connections with the officers who proudly serve our city.

The first person to solve the clues and find Serin gets to take him home, but the real prize is seeing our community come together. From smiling kids to excited families, every hunt creates new memories and strengthens the relationships that make Raytown such a special place to call home.

Community is built one connection at a time, and we’re honored to partner with the Raytown Police Department to make those connections happen.

The City of Raytown is conducting sanitary sewer smoke testing throughout the city and anticipates completing the work by July 29.

Residents may notice non-toxic white smoke coming from storm drains, sewer vents, or occasionally around homes and businesses during the testing process. This is expected and does not indicate a fire.

If you see smoke in your home or neighborhood during this time, do not be alarmed, as it may be related to the city’s smoke testing operations.

However, if the smoke is accompanied by the odor of something burning or you have any indication of an actual fire, immediately call 911.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure maintenance is completed.

🚧Bridge Closure Update, Raytown!

The stormwater project at Railroad St & Raytown Rd, originally set to begin tomorrow (7/22/26), has been delayed. This means the wooden bridge will remain OPEN for now—no detours just yet!

Stay tuned: We’ll announce the new start date as soon as it’s scheduled.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Raytown!

Bridge Closure Alert, Raytown!

Starting Wednesday, July 22nd (7/22/2026), the wooden bridge will closed to traffic for storm water improvements. This project is the City's first GO Bond storm project. Voters approved a $7.2M GO Bond for storm improvements in November 2022.

New storm water pipes & inlets will be installed along Railroad St & Raytown Rd from 65th St to 63rd Terr.

All work is weather permitting. The bridge is expected to be closed 2-3 weeks. The project is expected to be completed early next year.
