Help us document SD FFA history!! The SD FFA Foundation is seeking info on FFA at the South Dakota State Fair, as we prepare for 100 years of SD FFA.
Seeking photos, news clippings, and timelines of FFA events - go through those photo albums!

When was FFA first a presence at the SD State Fair?

When were FFA livestock shows started at the SD state fair?

When did the FFA Animal Nursery in the SW corner of the Beef Complex start? (prior to our current building, built in 1997)

We've been told Don Massat, from Redfield, built the barn facade around the old animal nursery inside the old Beef Complex, around 1989 or 1990. Wondering if there are photos of that??

Please share photos and info on any of this, or other stories you have of SD FFA at the state South Dakota State Fair

Living to Serve💙

Service is at the heart of the FFA experience, and SD FFA members are putting that value into action in communities across South Dakota. Through the SD FFA Foundation’s Service-Learning Grants, 10 FFA chapters received up to $500 to support projects that serve their local communities.

Congratulations to the following chapters receiving SD FFA Foundation funds for their service projects:

🌱 Buffalo Christian — Creating an accessible and engaging agricultural space for assisted living residents
🛏️ Ethan — Building beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace
📚 Harrisburg — Hosting "Learner Interest Days" at elementary schools
🌸 Gregory County — Creating “A Bloom in Every Room” at a nursing home
🎂 Langford Area — Creating Birthday in a Bag kits
📖 Lennox — Promoting agricultural literacy through books and activities at local elementary schools
🚒 Menno — Hosting a First Responder Appreciation event
🐴 Miller — Implementing equine therapy
🩹 Scotland — Assembling first aid kits for farm families and agricultural workers
🎄 Tri-Valley — Preparing and providing Christmas freezer meals for families in need

These projects give FFA members the opportunity to identify needs in their communities, serve others and develop meaningful leadership skills along the way.

Thank you to the Wayne & Gwynn Hansen Fund and Bawek Trucking for helping make these grants possible!

Today is National Day! 🦉

Agriculture teachers do so much more than teach a class. They create opportunities, build confidence, encourage curiosity and help students discover where their skills and interests can take them in agriculture and beyond.

Today, we’re celebrating the agriculture educators who show up every day for their students, their chapters and their communities. Shout out your favorite Ag Teacher - past, current, or present - in the comments!

Thank you for all you do to make a difference💙💛💚
