Day 1 of the SD Long Course State A Championship Swim Meet was HOT; Day 2 was a scorcher, breaking the record for hottest temp ever recorded in Rapid City; and Day 3 is planned for triple digits yet again. This is from the resupply run prior to Day 2 after grossly underestimating the demand for hydration. Day 2 decimated our supply, so we will once again be restocking to meet the needs of everyone attending.

Growth doesn’t happen by doing the same thing every day.

One of the most valuable parts of training is learning to experiment - new drills, new tools, and sometimes even new ways of thinking about what we’re capable of.

Not every experiment works perfectly. That’s the point. Some days teach us what helps us move faster, train smarter, or race better. Other days teach us patience, resilience, and how to adjust.

The best athletes stay curious. They’re willing to try, willing to fail a little, willing to learn, and willing to come back better.

That’s how progress happens. One experiment at a time. 💪🏊‍♂️

🙌Congrats to Tsunami swimmers Hunter and Owen who placed 2nd & 3rd respectively in their age group, and 10th & 11th overall amongst over 530 swimmers at the Waimea Bay 1.2mi open water swim, one of four races at the 2026 North Shore Swim Series.

Great weekend in Pierre for RST! 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

Our swimmers raced hard, supported each other, and came away with lots of personal best times. Congratulations to our individual high point finishers:

We are proud of the fast swims and the competitive effort across the team. But the real value of weekends like this goes beyond the results. Swim meets give our athletes the chance to build friendships, strengthen team bonds, cheer for one another, and create memories that last long after the times are posted.

The SD State A Long Course Championships are set for July 24-26 at the Roosevelt Swim Center. This is a big deal for Rapid City, and we need your help to make it run smoothly.

We are specifically looking for timers for the weekend. If you have a few hours to give, this is a great way to support a great event right here at home.

Different voices. New perspectives. Same commitment to getting better.

Today we had the chance to do a coach swap with Coach Pat from Northern Lights, and our swimmers got to learn from a fresh set of eyes, a different coaching style, and a new voice on deck.

One of the best parts of this sport is that growth can come from anywhere. Sometimes hearing the same skill explained in a new way is exactly what helps it click.

Huge thank you to Coach Pat for spending time with our athletes and helping them keep learning, adjusting, and growing.

Sometimes it’s good to switch things up.

Today we converted the pool from long course meters to short course yards and used the change of format to focus on speed, power, and racing details. Different course, different rhythm, different challenges - and a great reminder that variety helps athletes grow.

Proud of the way our swimmers attacked the change and brought energy to the work.
