Randolph Garden Club, organized in 1961, is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Vermont, New England Region, and National Garden Clubs, Inc. There are currently 40 members. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month, April through December. Guests are welcome at monthly meetings at no charge and at workshops with the materials fee. Annual dues for members are payable by the July fi

scal meeting. The purpose of the Randolph Garden Club is to stimulate horticultural interests for individuals as well as support the best interests of Randolph and neighboring areas--and, of course, to have fun with fellow gardeners. The club supports town beautification through its summer flower baskets program and garden design and maintenance in public areas of the town. Educational support is in the form of the club’s Randolph Garden Club Scholarship, awarded anually to a Vermont resident enrolled full-time in the Landscape and Ornamental Horticulture program at Vermont Technical College, with a minimum GPA of 2.8.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is RESCHEDULED (from Dec. 2) to December 9 because of the snow storm. Same time of day and location as before.

You're invited to our Wreath Decorating Workshop! Tuesday, December 9 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Pleasant Street in Randolph. It’s the small red building on the right just after you cross the railroad tracks heading south, and you’ll spot the wreath on the door.

We’ll have 'nog and noshes on hand, and you’re welcome to bring something to share if you’d like. A generous assortment of decorations will be available—both natural and not-so-natural—along with bows, ribbons, floral wire, and clippers.

Please bring your own wreath, swag, or centerpiece to work on. Marya from [email protected] has balsam wreaths available for preorder; she was the one who led our dried flower wreath workshop. I also saw nice greens and wreaths at Home Depot yesterday, and Dandy Lion Acres will have them when they open on the 21st. Hope to see you there!

On Halloween—just as the old Celtic festival of Samhain marked the turning of the seasons—Lori Peirce cast a spell over us all with her enchanting talk “The Witch’s Garden: Plants that Harm or Heal.” Mushrooms, rosemary, and monk’s hood—oh my! It was a magical mix of folklore, history, and horticulture. Next up, in December, we’ll be trading cauldrons for clippers as we gather to make our own festive holiday wreaths. Most programs are open to the public—so come join the fun!
