Meet Logan, Monster & Sophie ❤️🐾
While Saving Animals & Healing Hearts is primarily a sanctuary for farmed animals, we have a few very special canine residents who have found their forever home here as well.
Every one of them arrived with a story. Every one of them needed a second chance. And every one of them has become an irreplaceable part of our family.
Sophie
Sophie was found abandoned on a rural road in Norco, California. A rescue friend took her in and began searching for the perfect home. At the time, we had recently lost our Queensland Heeler, and Sophie looked almost identical. She was also wary of men, making placement a bit more challenging.
When it became clear that finding the right home might take some time, we offered to help.
What we didn’t realize at first was that Sophie wasn’t quite the Queensland Heeler mix everyone thought she was. As she grew, her adorable pit bull head emerged right along with her talent for destroying toys and creating daily masterpieces of backyard chaos.
But what truly shines about Sophie isn’t her appearance—it’s her heart.
She has never met a stranger. Human, pig, horse, volunteer, visitor—it doesn’t matter. Sophie loves everyone. Her favorite pastime is immediately rolling over for belly rubs and convincing every person she meets that they are her new best friend. She is sweet, affectionate, endlessly entertaining, and one of the happiest souls you’ll ever encounter.
Logan
Logan, our handsome Pudlepointer, originally arrived as a foster.
His owner was going through a difficult time and needed temporary help caring for him. We opened our doors and welcomed him in, expecting it to be a short stay.
Unfortunately, circumstances changed, and Logan was never reclaimed.
What began as fostering slowly became forever.
With his almost human eyes, goofy personality, and gentle spirit, Logan quickly won over everyone he met. He has a way of looking at you that makes it feel like he understands every word you’re saying. Whether he’s being silly, seeking affection, or simply hanging out with the volunteers, Logan brings a calm and loving energy wherever he goes.
He may not have arrived looking for a permanent home, but we can’t imagine SAHH without him.
Monster
And then there’s Monster.
A name that couldn’t possibly be less accurate.
Monster came to us through a family member of our founder when life circumstances changed and she needed a stable place to land.
Her bark is impressive. In fact, if you’ve never met her before, it might make you think twice about approaching.
But within seconds, the truth comes out.
The fierce protector instantly transforms into a giant love bug carrying her favorite toy, wagging her tail so hard her whole body moves with it. She is goofy, affectionate, and absolutely devoted to people.
While navigating relationships with other dogs hasn’t always been easy for her, Monster has worked incredibly hard. Over time, she has made tremendous progress and continues to settle into sanctuary life more and more each day.
The Heart of Sanctuary
Not every resident at SAHH has hooves, feathers, or a snout.
Some have wagging tails, muddy paws, and an uncanny ability to steal your heart.
Sophie, Logan, and Monster may have arrived through different circumstances, but they all share one thing in common: they needed a safe place to land.
Today they spend their days greeting volunteers, supervising sanctuary activities, demanding affection, and reminding us that rescue comes in all shapes, sizes, and species.
And just like every animal who calls SAHH home, they will never have to wonder where they belong again.
