Lola is clocking in for her favorite time of day: breakfast time! 🐷🥣

This week’s feed bill is $611.71. Keeping Lola and nearly 90 of her rescued friends happily fed is a team effort, and you are the most important part of that team.

When you donate to our weekly feed fundraiser, you are directly filling Lola’s bowl and making sure every resident here sleeps with a full belly. We truly couldn’t do this without our community pitching in each week.

Can you help us crush this week’s goal? Every dollar goes straight to purchasing feed!

Meet Logan, Monster & Sophie ❤️🐾

While Saving Animals & Healing Hearts is primarily a sanctuary for farmed animals, we have a few very special canine residents who have found their forever home here as well.

Every one of them arrived with a story. Every one of them needed a second chance. And every one of them has become an irreplaceable part of our family.

Sophie

Sophie was found abandoned on a rural road in Norco, California. A rescue friend took her in and began searching for the perfect home. At the time, we had recently lost our Queensland Heeler, and Sophie looked almost identical. She was also wary of men, making placement a bit more challenging.

When it became clear that finding the right home might take some time, we offered to help.

What we didn’t realize at first was that Sophie wasn’t quite the Queensland Heeler mix everyone thought she was. As she grew, her adorable pit bull head emerged right along with her talent for destroying toys and creating daily masterpieces of backyard chaos.

But what truly shines about Sophie isn’t her appearance—it’s her heart.

She has never met a stranger. Human, pig, horse, volunteer, visitor—it doesn’t matter. Sophie loves everyone. Her favorite pastime is immediately rolling over for belly rubs and convincing every person she meets that they are her new best friend. She is sweet, affectionate, endlessly entertaining, and one of the happiest souls you’ll ever encounter.

Logan

Logan, our handsome Pudlepointer, originally arrived as a foster.

His owner was going through a difficult time and needed temporary help caring for him. We opened our doors and welcomed him in, expecting it to be a short stay.

Unfortunately, circumstances changed, and Logan was never reclaimed.

What began as fostering slowly became forever.

With his almost human eyes, goofy personality, and gentle spirit, Logan quickly won over everyone he met. He has a way of looking at you that makes it feel like he understands every word you’re saying. Whether he’s being silly, seeking affection, or simply hanging out with the volunteers, Logan brings a calm and loving energy wherever he goes.

He may not have arrived looking for a permanent home, but we can’t imagine SAHH without him.

Monster

And then there’s Monster.
A name that couldn’t possibly be less accurate.

Monster came to us through a family member of our founder when life circumstances changed and she needed a stable place to land.

Her bark is impressive. In fact, if you’ve never met her before, it might make you think twice about approaching.

But within seconds, the truth comes out.

The fierce protector instantly transforms into a giant love bug carrying her favorite toy, wagging her tail so hard her whole body moves with it. She is goofy, affectionate, and absolutely devoted to people.

While navigating relationships with other dogs hasn’t always been easy for her, Monster has worked incredibly hard. Over time, she has made tremendous progress and continues to settle into sanctuary life more and more each day.

The Heart of Sanctuary

Not every resident at SAHH has hooves, feathers, or a snout.

Some have wagging tails, muddy paws, and an uncanny ability to steal your heart.

Sophie, Logan, and Monster may have arrived through different circumstances, but they all share one thing in common: they needed a safe place to land.

Today they spend their days greeting volunteers, supervising sanctuary activities, demanding affection, and reminding us that rescue comes in all shapes, sizes, and species.

And just like every animal who calls SAHH home, they will never have to wonder where they belong again.

From Hoarding Case to Living His Best Life ❤️🐷

In 2018, Ben arrived at SAHH as part of a hoarding case.

This pig was overweight, neglected, and emotionally shut down. Life had not been kind to him. He had learned that simply existing was safer than engaging with the world around him. His eyes carried a heaviness that no animal should ever know.

Fast forward to today.

This is Ben now.

One of our oldest residents, soaking up the sunshine, napping wherever he pleases, and living life entirely on his own terms. His days are filled with soft blankets, cozy houses, good meals, medical care, friends, and people who adore him exactly as he is.

The transformation isn’t just physical. Yes, Ben is healthier. Yes, he is more comfortable. But the biggest change is something you can’t measure on a scale.

Ben learned how to be a pig again.

He learned that food would always come. That no one would hurt him. That he could rest peacefully in the sun. That blankets are wonderful. That belly rubs are acceptable when offered by the right human. And most importantly, that he was finally safe.

Rescue isn’t always about dramatic moments. Sometimes it’s about giving an animal thousands of ordinary days filled with comfort, security, and love. Days they never would have had otherwise.

For eight years, Ben has reminded us why this work matters.

From a forgotten pig in a hoarding case to a cherished sanctuary resident, Ben’s story is proof that healing happens when animals are given the one thing they deserve most:

A chance.

We love you, Ben. Thank you for spending your golden years with us. ❤️🐷

Clyde is one lucky pig! 🐷💕

This sweet boy has managed to collect multiple volunteer girlfriends, and honestly, we can't blame them. With his charming personality, gentle nature, and handsome face, Clyde wins over everyone he meets.

We're pretty sure he knows exactly how adorable he is. ❤️

Penelope Update – 5/29/26

It’s been a little while since we’ve shared an update on Penelope. Truthfully, we’ve been focused on healing, recovery, and life in general.

Overall, she is doing incredibly well. She still has some skin issues that will likely be lifelong, along with significant scarring. The area where she had exposed bone continues to heal slowly, but it is making progress.

One challenge we are currently dealing with is that Penelope has been experiencing intense heat cycles that simply do not seem to end. After a lot of research and discussions with our veterinarian, there are several possible causes, but the most likely explanation is that her severe illness caused some disruption to her endocrine system, preventing her from cycling normally and leaving her in a prolonged state of estrus.

Our initial response to the behavior changes we’ve seen over the past several weeks was to schedule her spay surgery. However, after further consideration, we believe she may still be recovering from internal issues that need time to resolve.

Next week, Penelope is scheduled for an ultrasound so we can take a closer look at her ovaries and internal organs to determine if anything appears abnormal. Some young pigs can develop uterine tumors surprisingly early in life, so we want to rule out any underlying conditions that could create complications later on or increase the risks associated with surgery.

After everything this little girl has endured, we are taking every precaution possible. Our goal is to ensure she is healthy enough for surgery and to give her the very best chance at a long, happy, and healthy life.

As always, thank you for following her journey, cheering her on, and loving her right alongside us. ❤️

🚨 MATCHING DONATION UPDATE! 🚨

Please help us reach our match!! Twice a day we feed nearly 90 rescued animals here at Saving Animals Healing Hearts 🤍🐷🐴🫏🐐🐑🦚

Last week an incredibly generous donor offered to MATCH $1,000 — turning it into $2,000 for the sanctuary animals! So far we’ve raised $377, which means we still need $623 by Friday to unlock the full match.

This opportunity doesn’t come around often, and we truly need your help. Feed, hay, medications, farrier care, and daily sanctuary needs never stop, and every dollar donated right now will go TWICE as far.

Please help us rally together for the animals. Whether you donate $5, share this post, or help spread the word, it all makes a difference. 🤍

Let’s make this happen together for the nearly 90 rescued animals counting on us every single day.
