Now that we’re open again, we expect to see a lot of people parking at the Powerlinez. Inconsiderate parking can cause access problems for all of us.

Parking is allowed in the area shown on Torne Valley Road, but NOT on Torne Brook Road and particularly not at the trailhead.

If you’re arriving with multiple cars, try to park together so you leave spaces free for others (but be mindful of social distancing as you get in and out!). If you’re on your own, try to leave the bigger spaces free for multiple cars.

If the “normal” area is full - either consider coming back another time, or find a LEGAL, CONSIDERATE place to park. Bad parking has caused problems for us in the past, and it could do so again.

Thanks to for the aerial pic. @ Powerlinez

So we’re open again 😃 but COVID hasn’t gone away and it’s still important to avoid crowding at the crag. If you go climbing at the Powerlinez, you should try to explore some of the less-well-known areas - there’s lots of great climbing out there.

To make those easier to find, we’re happy to introduce the official TVCC Powerlinez Climbing Area Map. It includes all the trails as well as the boulders and crags from the Gunks Apps, Rakkup and hardcopy guidebooks. Find it at tornevalleyclimbers.com/map @ Powerlinez

We’re happy to announce that the Palisades Interstate Park Commission have told us the Powerlinez can reopen to climbing on TUESDAY JULY 7. There will be COVID-specific climbing guidelines which we will share with you as soon as we can.

Thank you all for your patience and support during this time. Please continue to respect the closure until next Tuesday - looking forward to seeing you out there after that!

The remains CLOSED TO CLIMBING until further notice. This closure is under the authority of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, and is consistent with other non-hiking activity closures in Harriman State Park. We here at TVCC will be sure to tell you as soon as the situation changes, and we appreciate your cooperation in the meantime.

A lot of work went into getting the Powerlinez and other climbing areas opened up, and a lot more went into building great relationships with land managers and local communities. PLEASE don’t ruin it for everyone by behaving irresponsibly.
