Umstead Marathon

Umstead Marathon A marathon for runners by runners This is a trail marathon put on for runners by runners. The bridle trails are wide and covered with a pea-gravel type of rock.

The course is all on trails, single track/hiking and bike/bridle trails. The single track portion totals approximately five miles and is early in the race. The single track section is full of roots and rocks and can be difficult footing. The hills are unrelenting, and the flats are few and far between. Expect well-stocked aid stations with friendly volunteers. To reduce our impact on the environment, this event is a cup-free race. Please bring a hydration hand-held or hydration backpack.

And--hooray! --we've got clear skies for race day. ☀️🌲

Registration for the 22nd Annual Umstead Trail Marathon closes tomorrow (March 4) at midnight. If you want to be part of that eager pack soaking in final race instructions this Saturday, now’s the time to sign up. Don’t miss it!

Beautiful Course: A fast, runnable mix of scenic single-track and double-track trails.

Fully Stocked Aid Stations: Support every 2–4 miles to keep you fueled, refreshed, and moving.
