Raleigh Residents--Your FIREFIGHTERS need you!

The Raleigh budget was presented Tuesday, and the retirement benefit we've been fighting for three years was not included-Separation Allowance. City Council has full authority to add this to the budget on June 2nd, WE NEED YOU TO TELL THEM YOU ARE OKAY WITH THEM RAISING YOUR TAXES TO FUND THIS. 1/2 penny property tax would implement this benefit, and would fix the exploding vacancy issues (50 firefighters currently, soon to be 60). The added cost to the average household in the City of Raleigh is only $1.75/month. If you agree with taking on this tax burden to ensure an adequately staffed fire department, parity with law enforcement, and a dignified retirement for the sacrifice of 30 years fighting fires and the likely diagnosis of cancer, please email City Council and highly encourage them to raise 1/2 penny property tax and implement SEPARATION ALLOWANCE! 🚨 RALEIGH: ANOTHER UPZONING BATTLE IS BACK! 🚨

Developers are once again pushing for a 30-story tower right next to the historic Glenwood-Brooklyn neighborhood—despite being denied just two years ago and in direct violation of 47 city policies and 4 planning documents.

I sat down with neighborhood advocates Ben Kuhn and Roy Attride to discuss what this rezoning could mean—not just for Glenwood-Brooklyn, but for all of Raleigh. If this case is approved, it could set a precedent that allows massive upzonings across South Park, Mordecai, Five Points, Oakwood, and beyond.
