We received a note from an inmate who recently completed the Discovering Buddhism course on the e-learning app. Here is what he wrote to us:

"I would like to express my gratitude to you for making all the books and the Discovering Buddhism available on the Edovo app. I completed the entire courses. I miss Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Though I wasn't able to formally connect with him, I became connected to him through his teachings in all the books by him. May he swiftly return!"

It's notes such as these that keep us motivated to do what we are doing.

The FPMT newsletter always has some interesting articles that answer a lot of our questions and offer us ways to practice the Dharma. In today's day and age when there is enough and more content on the internet, one needs to be intentional in what one consumes. Newsletters such as these are powerful reminders of where we need to invest our time.

Welcome to this month’s newsletter!
We are pleased to share precious advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe, along with many causes for rejoicing, including an overview of the recent beneficial and essential activities supported through FPMT Charitable Projects.

In response to the floods and mudslides along the Nepal-Tibet border, many generous donors quickly responded to our new FPMT Emergency Relief Fund. In this month’s newsletter, you can learn how the funds have been used so far, and we will continue to keep you updated on needs and relief progress.

You will also find information on new study and practice resources and opportunities available to you, as well as information on the great activities happening around the world within FPMT.

For those of you around Bay area, this is a retreat you don't want to miss!!

Our friends at the Compassion Institute invite you to The Art of Compassion Practice. This course will be happening in-person at the Gyuto Foundation (6401 Bernhard Ave, Richmond, CA 94805).

Hosted in the serene setting of the Gyuto Foundation in Richmond, California, this two-day immersive experience will offer a rare opportunity to study compassion cultivation directly with Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D., principal author of Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT), and Erika Rosenberg, Ph.D., Founding Faculty of Compassion Institute and co-developer of CCT.

This weekend is designed to be far more than an introduction to compassion. It is intended to be a catalyst for changemakers to form a community of practice.

Update:

It's that time of the year when the LPP team gets busy with the creation of the Liberation Calendar. We have started work on the 2027 calendar back in July. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes before we can release the calendar. The astrology is created, validated multiple times for any inconsistencies and errors, while we also work on the creatives for the calendar.

We have received a few queries on when the calendar will be released. We are doing our best to release it as early as practically possible.

Thank you for your patience and kind understanding! 🙏🙏

If you are wondering where you could donate to help, here is one way to support those affected in Nepal.

In light of the catastrophic flooding that recently hit Nepal and Tibet, FPMT has launched the FPMT Emergency Relief Fund to provide immediate support to affected communities. This fund assists individuals and families impacted by natural disasters, emergency situations at FPMT centers and projects, and other urgent crises requiring swift aid.

To Support - https://fpmt.org/projects/fpmt/social-services-fund/fpmt-emergency-relief-fund/

We are currently utilizing this fund to raise relief funds for those impacted by the flooding that occurred on August 26 along the Bhote Koshi River on the Nepal-Tibet border. The floodwaters have swept away entire villages, homes, roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure across Rasuwa and neighboring districts. The scale of this disaster is still unfolding, with many people remaining unaccounted for and entire communities displaced.

FPMT is working directly with Kopan Monastery to identify those most in need and help ensure that support reaches affected families directly.

We will keep you updated as aid is distributed. Thank you for keeping all those affected in your prayers. 🙏https://fpmt.org/projects/fpmt/social-services-fund/fpmt-emergency-relief-fund/

In face of natural disasters, we often wonder what is it that we can do, what practice can benefit... Please do spend some time reading this article on advice by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
