A huge thank you to Iconic Bond and CJ Ampion for coming through and setting the tone with original, thought-provoking, and inspiring music.

Their performances helped create an atmosphere that was uplifting, engaging, and perfectly aligned with the heart of the conference. Music that speaks life, challenges minds, and energizes the room makes all the difference—and they did exactly that.

We’re grateful for artists who use their gifts to inspire, uplift, and pour into the next generation. Another powerful conference moment in the books.

We were deeply impacted by Pastor Zac Herd of The Root Transformation Ministries, who led a powerful session titled “Discipline vs. Development: Raising Sons Without Breaking Their Spirit.”

Pastor Zac reminded us that our children are growing up in a different time, facing pressures and experiences unlike what we knew. Because of that, we must be careful not to respond in ways that tear them down or break their spirit. Discipline without understanding can cost us connection—and we never want to be so harsh that we lose them.

He emphasized that children can’t grow up on their own—they need examples, not just expectations. And when it feels hard to develop them into who they’re becoming—especially when we don’t fully understand who they are—we must remember that Jesus, our Sovereign King, has already taken on these issues for us. We don’t lead from frustration; we lead from grace, wisdom, and love.

This session was a reminder that our goal isn’t control—it’s development, growth, and raising whole sons who know they are seen, supported, and loved.

In 2025, we were honored to welcome back Returning King J. Dwayne Garnett for his powerful session, “Breaking Generational Cycles: Healing to Raise Whole Children.”

He challenged us to think differently about what success really looks like. Success isn’t one-size-fits-all—it could mean going to college, holding a steady job, or simply having the strength to make it through the day. True success begins with self-awareness and identifying the habits that quietly rob us of becoming our best selves.

J. Dwayne reminded us that breaking generational cycles requires courage. We must be willing to deal with things that are deeply rooted, confront unhealthy patterns, and intentionally change mindsets. Healing isn’t passive—it’s work. And breaking generational curses requires inspection and confrontation: you have to examine the fruit being produced to know what needs to change.

This session was a call to honesty, healing, and intentional growth—for ourselves and for the generations coming after us. We’re raising kings by doing the work today.

In 2025, we were honored to receive wisdom from Pastor Jamal Brown of United Springs Church of Christ and Trinity Insurance Group during his powerful session, “Raising Kings: Parenting with Purpose and Vision.”

Through a simple yet profound demonstration, Pastor Jamal reminded parents that money doesn’t lose its value just because it’s been crumpled or gotten dirty—and neither do our children. Even when life leaves marks, their worth remains unchanged.

He challenged parents to recognize that our children will repeat the behaviors they see, not just the lessons we say. He encouraged transparency—sharing the whole story, not just the highlights. Our struggles, failures, and hardships matter too, because they teach resilience, growth, and wisdom.

He also spoke honestly about blended families, reminding us that they only work when we walk in integrity. One of the most powerful moments came as he shared how his father became his hero—not because he was perfect, but because he shared his failures. That transparency taught him to want better for himself, and now, to desire that his children be better than him.

This is generational impact. This is parenting with purpose. We are grateful for leaders who pour truth, humility, and vision into families as we raise the next generation of kings.

We are honored to recognize Reverend Wayne Wilhelm, Pastor of Shepherds Flock Church, and newly appointed Vice President of the Raleigh–Apex chapter of the NAACP, for his continued commitment to the Label Me King movement.

Wayne’s impact has spanned multiple years and roles:

Year 1: He spoke directly to our youth, pouring wisdom and truth into the next generation.

Year 2: He stepped into a supportive role as DJ, serving where needed and keeping the atmosphere energized.

Year 3: He shifted focus to our parents, delivering a powerful session on emotional response driven by impulse, the difference between emotion vs. passion, and the importance of managing emotions so your voice can truly be heard.

He challenged families to respond factually—not emotionally—especially when navigating difficult situations. The message was clear: when we master our emotions, we communicate more effectively, advocate more powerfully, and lead with wisdom.

We are grateful for leaders who are flexible, faithful, and fully invested in both our youth and their families. This is community leadership in action and we are very grateful to have Wayne as a part of our Label Me King Community.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the powerhouse couple Pastor TJ Bridgers and Lady Sherrie Bridgers of RTP Church for coming through and pouring into our young kings.

Their session, “Peace Over Pride: Choosing God in the Conflict,” focused on managing emotions and healthy conflict resolution. Through the interactive human knot technique, our youth experienced firsthand that conflict isn’t resolved in isolation—you have to communicate, trust one another, and work together to come out stronger on the other side.

These leaders have a true heart and passion for youth. When we experienced unexpected staffing changes, Pastor TJ and Lady Sherrie didn’t hesitate to answer the call—they jumped in, stood in the gap, and made sure everything ran seamlessly. Nothing missed a beat, and our kings were still fully poured into.

This is what servant leadership looks like. We are grateful for leaders who show up, step in, and lead with love, humility, and excellence. 2025 Label Me King was a success because of these two!

Caleb Williams, Software Engineer at Google, delivered a powerful message on the energy your appearance brings into the room.

He challenged our young kings to understand that what you wear—and how you carry yourself—directly impacts how people perceive you. You are in control of the impression you leave. Your presence speaks before you ever open your mouth.

From confidence to credibility, Caleb reminded our youth that the way you present yourself can influence opportunities, respect, and how others see your leadership. When you walk with intention, discipline, and self-awareness, people take notice.

We’re raising kings who know that how you show up matters

Another 2025 Label Me King speaker, Christopher “CJ” Burwell, Parks and Recreation Center Director with the City of Raleigh, made a huge impact during his powerful session titled “Stand Strong: Choosing Purpose Over Pressure.”

Speaking on substance abuse and peer pressure, CJ challenged our young kings to be true to themselves—not the version the world tries to pressure them into. He spoke candidly about how many people spend more time creating and maintaining fake social media profiles than investing in their real lives and real character.

Our youth learned that giving in to peer pressure can change the entire trajectory of their lives—but standing firm in who they are builds confidence, growth, and purpose. They were reminded: don’t bully yourself by saying what you can’t do. When you push through fear and pressure, you gain the confidence needed to accomplish great things.

We’re raising kings who stand strong, choose purpose, and refuse to fold under pressure.
