refugees living in Penang Island and main land. These refugees mainly from Myanmar have fled
their country due to oppression by their
government and fear of persecution against them
for their ethnicity and religion. Some of these
refugees have been living here in a
deplorable situ

ation for more than 20yrs, some
married with children. Since Malaysia is not a
signatory to the 1951 UN Convention on the
Rights of Refugees, a refugee is regarded as an
undocumented migrant. Therefore refugees are
vulnerable to abuse and lack of protection. Some of the problems faced by refugees here
include denied access to healthcare, no
employment, no proper housing, no education
and abuse by authorities. A refugee child who has
been born in Malaysia is denied access into our
government schools. This creates a huge
problem for the community and some of these
children are now aged 17yrs old but
have not been to a school before and are
illiterate. Some of these children can be seen
begging on the streets and involved in unhealthy

Alhamdulillah, thanks to your continuous generous donations and sincere support, the wudhu Water Project has now reached to refugee camp, bringing clean and safe drinking water to families in need.

What was once a daily struggle for many communities is now a source of relief, hope, and joy. Every water well represents lives changed, diseases prevented, and countless smiles restored.

Together, we have installed more than 3,000 water wells across Bangladeshβ€”and the impact continues to grow.
