Today marked our final Indian Education cultural event of the 2025–2026 school year. It has been an incredible year filled with meaningful cultural experiences, learning opportunities, and memorable moments. Throughout the year, we have had the privilege of connecting with amazing students, staff, and community members who helped make each event special. We are grateful for the relationships built and the knowledge shared, and we look forward to continuing this journey in the years ahead.

We had a wonderful tour of historic sites connected to Lumbee history. Stops included the museums at Old Main and the PSRC Indian Education Building, the site where the Croatan Indian School began, the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center and Strike at the Wind!, and Hayes Pond.

We also visited the burial site of Rhonda Lowry and Henderson Oxendine.

It was a great day of learning more about our history and heritage.

As the school year comes to an end, now is the perfect time to begin preparing for college and scholarship opportunities. The HNASA Scholarship is available for American Indian students in Hoke County who are ready to take the next step toward higher education.

Eligibility Requirements:
✔️ American Indian student residing in Hoke County
✔️ Minimum 3.0 GPA
✔️ Incoming freshman enrolling in a 2- or 4-year program by January 2028
✔️ Must attend AND serve at the HNASA Banquet on November 20, 2026

The 2026 seniors of the Hoke Native American Students Association received their stoles in recognition of their involvement and participation in the club.

Hoke County Culture Class had a great turnout this evening. Thankful for those that took part in organizing and teaching the class this evening.
