Lamplighters - Fundraisers for Radford Public Library

10/06/2026

Radford Public Library's Lamplighter Board stuffed many envelopes with the quarterly newsletter and sent them your way to let fellow Lamplighters know the many ways their funds had supported the Library and its programs for all ages. Lamplighters make many exciting events happen for our community- from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to the Summer Reading Program, to Coffee Club for Seniors! Note: When you shop the Itty Bitty Book Sale just inside the Library's entrance doors, you're contributing funds to our Lamplighters!

Lamplighters fund Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Radford so that all Radford children, from birth to age five, can receive a new book each month in the mail to keep! Dolly Parton worked hard to get free books in the hands of all children, and the Imagination Library is one of her many great success stories! While the program is FREE for families, it is funded by the Lamplighters in Radford. Radford Public Library staff can get you signed up with minimal information - or you can go online directly and sign up through www.imaginationlibrary.com. All books are NEW, age-appropriate, and selected by a International Book Committee. It all sounds too good to be true, but it really is true!

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until they begin school in participating areas.

If you can’t shop today, you can still give to Lamplighters through this Give Butter platform! Be sure to uncheck the option to tip if you don’t want to give money to the platform. This resource provides a way to support Lamplighters from a distance. Thanks for your support!

Thanks to faithful Lamplighters Wilson and Liz, the Radford Public Library planters have been refreshed (in late May) and have taken off! Check out the before and after photos! Many thanks to Wilson and Liz for making the library entrance so inviting! They planted Sahara Yellow Zinnias, Madness Red Picotee Petunias, Marguerite Sweet Potato Vine Ipomoea, Superbells Over Easy, Luscious Pinkberry Blend, and Superbells Doublette Love Swept! Sounds like a romance in those planters!
