The mission of Special Olympics is to provide free year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults 8 years old and above with intellectual disabilities. My husband Joseph James and I are excited to announce that we now have SPECIAL OLYMPICS WA here in Quincy! We are starting our season with Athletics and continuing with Softball in the summer,

bowling in the fall, and Basketball in the winter. We always have openings available to join our team. We are saddened to announce the passing of Yesenia James, a visionary leader and founder of Special Olympics in Quincy. Her perseverance and dedication to launching the organization in Quincy will never be forgotten, and we will continue to celebrate her lasting legacy. She leaves behind not only her three boys Christopher, Jeremiah and her husband Joseph but also a team of athletes whose lives she profoundly impacted.

A huge thank you to the Offutt Family Foundation and the R.D. Offutt Company for their incredibly generous donations to our Quincy Special Olympics team. Your support arrived at the perfect time - just in time for Thanksgiving…and it means the world to our athletes, families, and volunteers.

Because of your generosity, we can continue offering life-changing sport opportunities including bowling, soccer and track & field.
