Job Position:
Information and Referral Specialist
The Information and Referral/Assistance Specialist works under the direction and supervision of
the Executive Director of West Central Illinois Center for Independent Living. I&R is one of the
5 Core independent living services.
The I&R Specialist will provide information on behalf of all persons with disabilities about
available private, public, and voluntary services and resources which meet the individual’s
expressed needs and the linkage and follow-up with appropriate community resources or service
providers to ensure service(s) is delivered.
Make and coordinate referrals with other community resources that are necessary and
appropriate.
Maintain and update directories and other resource information as directed.
Attending meetings of area agencies, educational seminars, and other informational meetings as
required by the Executive Director, with emphasis on offering center services to persons with
disabilities within service area.
Must become SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program) certified and attend regular training and
re-certifications.
Directly assist individuals understand and maintain benefits (Medicare, Medicaid).
Monday-Friday 8am-4:30p.m.
